'23 M5C Run in service today

FYI.. I had read that the Run In service only replaced the rear Diff Fluid + Engine Oil / Filter.

My dealer replaced the Front and Rear diff fluid + engine Oil/ Filter. So, I've got that going for me !

My SA was surprised when I questioned him that I had understood only the rear diff fluid was done .

Car runs amazing , ready to take her out for some real rips now !

It’s a great feeling, getting the RIS done, then being able to unleash all the power

Nice to hear, but I guarantee the dealer will not get reimbursed from BMW for servicing the front diff.

My dealer did the front and rear diffs at 1250 break in service. I didn't even ask.

Also coming up on break-in service for an F90 and dealer told me only rear diff fluid will be changed and if I wanted front diff fluid to be changed as well, I would have to pay out of pocket…is this necessary and/or worth it (to have front diff fluid changed too)?

Probably not at 1200 miles, realistically if you did you break in properly you never even activated the front diff. Now at say 5k miles with your next oil change I'd totally do it

When I brought mine in for 1200 mi service back in March, dealer said that only the rear differential had the break-in fluid.

When I questioned it, they showed me the actual BMW service bulletin that said the same. Dealer said ithey used to do it but BMW changed it.

my 23 was rear diff only as well, I suppose rear is a (limited slip) locking function while the front is a open diff , hence no servicing.

They used to do it for the break in service and stopped, probably realized it was cost prohibitive and pretty useless at 1200 miles

The front diff is also the same as the one in the G12 7 series. So it probably never made sense for it to have a break in service in the M. That said I plan to do all the drivetrain fluids around 50k miles. Maybe sooner if I'm feeling motivated or I track it.
