My thoughts exactly. I have an M5C being produced currently. As cool as this looks the seats look silly and tacky in a mid size sedan. I'll take my seats plush with massaging/heating/cooling.

Rims are nice modern classics, as they should be. But definitely Not into gold ✨ colored anything.

Doesn't make sense to have just two 💺💺 functional seats in the rear, center space is totally wasted.

If you're into the 5 Series this is pretty cool.

I think it is about 180 lb weight loss all else being equal.

They are comparing the car with standard M CCBs to a standard M5C with steel brakes and the brakes itself are lighter by 51 lbs.

The M3 bucket seat saves 5 kg (11 lbs) compared to the standard M3 sports seats, according to this video (2 minute mark). I'd imagine it would be at least a few more pounds since the M5 seats are more customizable and have more features, so maybe 15 lbs. That makes it 30 lbs for the front seats.

I dunno who M hired in the last 5yrs but they sure wanna shake shit up and boy, this is a gamble ill say is headed in the wrong direction. Either you don't know your crowd or you're willing ok going after a whole new audience and see what happens here ... maybe its that GME momo stock money!!!

If only they made it a little smaller, and flared out the fenders a bit more...BMW could have a whole new beautiful looking small sedan. I'd call it - The M3.

Very impressed.

Only thing to nit pick is the lack of colors and the hp gain. However, we all know BMW understates the hp figures. This will probably be more like a 25 - 30hp gain. As for the colors I suppose if you really wanted to, you could wrap it. If you could spend $145,000 on a car, a wrap is nothing.

Well done BMW! Well done!

Straight filthy. Willing to take a shot in the mouth for this car. No cameras though.

Based on all the press material. Worth every penny, in addition to the point that this should of been done a LONG time ago. You need no other car after this!

Good eye and you'd be right about the E34 M5 being the first.
Although from what I gather, what BMW probably meant from this press release is that unlike the E34 M5, where the "breadbox" (fixed rear center console) could be optioned out after 1990, the F90 M5 CS is a true 4 seater by design by virtue of the individual rear bucket seats, where no option or configuration can change the 4 seater layout.

According to Shmee's listing of weight savings:

Removal of "std items": 13kg

"Std items" listed as:
Removal of:
Through load system,
automatic 4-zone climate control,
"some driving assistance"
CD player
Comfort access

Carbon exterior package: 7kg

CCB and lightweight wheels: 25kg

Carbon seats and carbon interior: 11kg

Removal of sound deadening: 14kg

So, out of that 70kg total you could save roughly 18kg by optioning your M5 (non CS) with the CCB option. The other weight losses seems to be largely exclusive to the CS model?

How can this be the same company that builds the upcoming M3/M4?
