I would reconsider that decision because it also upgrades the camera quality and makes it much faster to come up and it's not just the backup camera but all the other cameras too. It changed the whole look of that camera on my car. Well worth it.

Hehehe,

No need for. DCT they said, ZF8 is faster and smoother they said. SMG IV? No no this is more reliable they said.

This is what BmW gets for cheapening the M brand. Shame! If you're going to have critical transmission failure issues it may as well be on a motorsport focused transmission.

Sad that the ZF8 now is no longer even reliable

I see, I just dont know if I want to take the time to go my "coding friendly" dealer to get it done when I really dont mind what I got.

Maybe over the holidays.

Thanks.

It's wire routing causing rubbing and a short circuit, nothing to do with the transmission itself. Just their poor choice of wire harness insulation and path.

how is there a recall on X5 and X6 M's produced after May 2019? Haven't those been out of production as we wait for the upcoming all-new versions?

I believe so, as I have zero recalls on my car currently.
Checked with my dealer and BMW canada.

Can anyone post the recall #'s of
1. new software.
2. Camera update.
3. This dumb tranny wire.

Canada has nothing on file but if I have the numbers maybe they can dig deeper. Like into the USA.

I’m no mechanic but what does wire routing issue have to do with you know, the actual transmission itself?

So, I’ve just leased and signed a deal for a new 19’ M5 and have yet to take delivery as it’s currently sitting on the dealers lot and cannot be delivered to me due to the recall. Meanwhile I have started to make my monthly lease payments as of yesterday.. and the next payment is due Jan 15, Feb 15 etc. I could potentially make 3-4 lease payments for a car that I will not get delivered?!?!

I ordered my 2020 M5 at the beginning of November. It was produced mid November and arrived at the port November 29th. My car is still sitting their 17 days later. My dealer and BMW North America cannot tell me why it has been delayed at the port for this long - not even assigned a carrier.

After finding out about this recall, I am wondering if this is the reason why it has not been shipped. I'm wondering if they are planning on fixing the car there before it's shipped.

Is anyone else in this boat right now?

I'm getting pretty frustrated with no one at BMW having answers as to what is going on.

If your M5 went into production after October 30th, your car is not affected by this recall.

You need to contract BMW financial right away and make them hold off of starting your lease. This is a direct breach of the lease contract.

You should be getting reimbursed for those payments. I know Porsche had a similar situation with delays and they covered some payments.

The repair was released last week so you should be getting the car any time when their schedule allows. The fix is pretty straight forward and typically sold vehicles are high on the priority list for dealers to complete. Also you shouldn't have been able to lease the vehicle with an open campaign, so your payment term won't start until the car is punched/sold. If your lease has in fact started then the car has already been delivered, in which case it's in your possession.

Milehigh,

Can you please provide more detail around the repair that was released last week? I was told today there is still no repair and or timeline for this. We are still waiting to hear from BMW NA.

If possible please share what dealer told you this info.

Have your dealer check the bulletin SI B 12 30 19. It was updated Thursday with repair the procedure and parts information. I can probably get it posted tomorrow if needed, but all dealers have the same access to it. The repair takes about an hour to complete. Let me know if you still need it in the morning.
Cheers
