Dying on Startup FIXED

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I have had the engine dying on startup issue intermittently for like 6 months, slowly getting worse, up to 5-7 times per week on my 2019 M5C.

I collected numerous posts about this issue, spoke with mechanics and with you guys help, I was finally able to convince my dealer that the LOW PRESSURE PUMP was the likely culprit. They did diagnostics on it and surprise!....the low pressure pump showed multiple faults. They replaced it and what a difference. The car now starts strongly every single time over many starts. If you have this issue, get it done. We now know the fix. Thanks for your help.

Glad the issue is taking care of but I have to say this is pretty pathatic that you had to collect information to convince the dealer to run diagnostics on it! The car is not even a year old, they should've diagnosed the issue earlier and fixed it. Some dealers are brutal!

I agree. When you pay this much for a vehicle, I expect better treatment from the start.

Glad to hear it worked. Did they tell you to run a couple of tanks of ethanol-free gas too?

That's great news. Not sure why they would not run a diagnostic? New Car, under warrantee, they get PAID by BMW to do such things........Screw um, find another dealership.

I agree not a good response from dealer but just glad to get it resolved. They initially gave me the old "we were not able to reproduce that issue, sir" line. The problem continued. They finally agreed to do deeper diagnostics after I insisted. A faulty low pressure fuel pump made the most sense as the engine sounded starved for gas on startup when this occurred.

The car should be running stronger too. I had some issue and after the fix my car was much faster
