My point was every time a test or review doesn't go they way people wanted it to go, they will cry foul.

Auto Bild once did a test on the 575HP M6 0-300km just a little over 30 seconds, but their test on the newer 600HP M6 0-300 was over 35 seconds. That's a huge difference.

Different options, engine tolerances and other variables will make a difference. This test shows us that just because you have the F90, it doesn't guarantee you will beat the AMG every time. You might have a M5 that's slower than average, or ran into a AMG that's faster than average. No two cars are the same, even same model.

In fact I will say you can put two F90 together, one will likely be consistently faster than the other one.

Yes - but then the E63R is around the corner as well. It never ends.
The facts are these:

Base E63 to "base" F90 M5 - the F90 is quicker, faster and better on the road course by a considerable amount in each.

E63S to "base" F90 M5 - The F90 in most of the major tests is quicker to 60 and the 1/4 mile (including Carwows original tests of each car) - and better on the road course. That said the tests are within a tenth of a second - which is quite negligible in real world driving so it will be a drivers race in almost every case.

E63S to M5 Comp - Using the above as a comparison, will likely be the same as the base E63 to "base" F90 M5. But not yet known.

E63R to M5 Comp - No data. So we shall see.

Bottom line - these are EXTREMELY quick and fast GT luxury cars anyone would be happy to own.

saw that one too. dont really know how this is relevant as these two vehicles aren't even competitors.... plus the whole +100 hp advantage of the jeep.

the channel is based in denver (a mile up) and the test was done on a near-freezing day. Not ideal for any test even if it was jeep vs chevy.

In theory...but, if you’re going to bother running it again, like they did, to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, from a statistical standpoint they should have also switched “lanes” to rule out all variables.

I have said this in other posts - from the stats I have seen - this will be the outcome 8/10 times to the 1/4. E63S will likely take the roll - especially higher speed rolls.

Looking forward to MT's test.

i think you are giving too much credit to surface quality between lanes, this is a decommissioned airport not a prepped surface; as in you cant "prep" concrete no matter how many times you run it.

but who knows, theres a ton of uncontrolled other variables

This test is horrible. There are so many things wrong with this test. The window is up and he’s counting down. How is the other car going to hear that? We can’t see when the e63s launched or even if they were lined up at the same mark. Are people that desperate to make the m5 quicker?

Haha. This will NEVER END. Vids will be posted with the M5 winning a race against the AMG and the AMG fans will protest.....same with the M fans (like me) when the AMG wins.

CarWow could (and will) make a fortune posting future “tests”. Next one will be at an actual drag strip with a sticky track and the M5 will win but it will have a carbon fiber roof and the AMG will have a sunroof.......

Fortunate for all of us - there will be a ton of videos and tests to come. MT's is next and I'm sure the F90 will make it to their best drivers car with the Merc for the full Laguna Seca Randy Pobst testing...this is the golden age of HP - it's a great time to be a car enthusiast!
