Tire Question
Hey all,
Purchased a pre-owned 2019 M5 Competition. Had 3 of the wheels refinished by a local vendor and they mentioned to me that one of the tires had a different tread pattern from one of the previous owners. All 4 tires are Pirelli P Zeros. Rears say 104y, fronts say 102y. However the passenger front tire has a different pattern than the other front tire. Any ideas why this would be? Perhaps they don't make the old pattern anymore? Any issues with a setup like this? |

They can be the same tire style but if specific to a car maker they may change things like tread style, depth, rubber compounds, insulation, etc. I bet you have 3 with a Star and one without one making it a generic Pzero. And no not worth changing. Won't hurt you or the car. Unless it just bugs you. But given you never noticed it then I wouldn't worry for everyday driving. Especially with 3 tires worn. Generally you never want to just change 1 tire anyway due to wear difference.

Recommend - get the car in a straight line. Mark both front tires with chalk at an easily identifiable point. Move the car two rotations of the front tires from where it is and compare. If there is a dramatic difference in rotation from left-right, I'd fix that. I suspect it won't, but what the hell do I know. Shawn |
