Hi All,

I previously had original BMW floating center caps on my pre-LCI M5 and absolutely loved them.

After a couple months in my new LCI with factory installed heritage roundels, my patience for waiting for original BMW heritage floating center caps is wearing thin. It's obviously possible they may never make them.

BimmerPlug has them here, but they're their own brand, and not manufactured by BMW — apparently none of their parts are.

https://bimmerplug.com/products/bmw-...SABEgKKpfD_BwE

Has anyone purchased floating center caps from BimmerPlug, heritage or standard, that can speak to quality and/or how theirs compare to original BMW floating center caps? Photos look pretty good, but BimmerPlug has a pretty strict return policy, and I don't want to be stuck with duds. Plus, I have never seen an aftermarket roundel/center cap that I didn't despise.

Thank in advance!

—RIL

I'm now mildly interested to also know how these bootleg center caps work out lol.

Did you order this specific product from them and have issues, or your general feelings about them? I have never actually been able to order anything with them, but they are ridiculous to deal with. If the product itself is good, I'd be a one time customer for it, despite the fact that their customer service and support is essentially nonexistent.

Not old news to me! Thank you for sharing!

But wow are these expensive. I previously paid $77 for a set of four (OE BMW) ones on Amazon. The truth is, I might be able to stomach paying this once, but what happens when you lose one (happened to me at least twice on my previous M5) and have to purchase a whole set just to get one replacement? Which is exactly what I did when I needed a replacement, but it was just another $77.

With all this being said, I’d buy and pay this to IND-Distribution a hundred times before purchasing from BimmerPlug.

Question for IND — If I purchase these and need a single replacement in the future, would you sell me one individual one?

IND is using OEM floating wheel caps and OEM heritage wheel caps to build these heritage floating wheel caps.
It´s the price for both sets and someone doing the work to combine them.

I saw that, it makes sense. I’m not saying they’re not worth it — especially to me as I’ve been looking for these since I got the car. Just stating that they aren’t cheap.

I’m going to order them if IND-Distribution is willing to sell me a single one in the event I need a replacement. Their customer service is fantastic, I’m pretty sure they would.

I received the heritage floating center caps today.
I´m not really happy with the result.
The heritage lines are too thin and have the wrong colors.
The light blue is slightly darker and the dark blue is slighty purple.
Only the red is very near to the original heritage center caps.
I checked the website and they´re advertising with fake pictures.
The product pictures are showing heritage lines that look like the original lines but the product delivered doesn´t have the same dimensions.

Bimmer.Plug i asked you before ordering und you said the heritage floating center caps are "maintaining the OEM standards".
That´s clearly not the case and you advertised them with wrong pictures!

Sorry this happened to you. Bimmer.Plug is the worst in every regard possible, from customer service to product quality itself. Beyond that, they essentially don’t accept returns. I hope they accommodate a refund if that’s what you desire, but if not, dispute the transaction with your credit card company.

I´m still waiting for a response...
I tried to directly cancel my order but they checked the message after the product was already shipped.
That´s just stupid because they state you could cancel an order within 60 minutes.
How should that work if they don´t read messages with URGENT as a title.
They even asked me to review the product before it even arrived.
I told them i can´t review something that haven´t arrived yet and guess what? No answer.

Worst company i´ve ever dealt with.
Hopefully Amex will help me to deal with that.

Ordered these today from IND-Distribution today! I used the promo code USA23 from there forum post for 10% off of the $565 retail price. With Priority Mail shipping, it came to $521. Will report back once they’re installed.

Ryan did confirm that in the event one gets lost, they will not sell me an individual one, but I wanted these for a long time, so I just bit the bullet anyways.

EDIT — In true IND fashion, they were accepted at the post office less than one hour after I placed my order! I’m scheduled to receive them before the holiday!

Hopefully you’re not as clumsy as me who just recently dropped one of my custom center caps on the garage floor and managed to somehow step on it while bending down to pick it up, breaking it in half.

ResIpsaLoquitur if you're removing the existing center caps yourself, I found this little device off of Amazon to be a dream come true. I initially tried prying the center caps out with a plastic trim removal tool as to not scratch the wheels, but had absolutely no luck. This took them right off in less than 5 seconds. It's a lot smaller of a tool than it looks here. Perfect size for a center cap.

Oh no! So sorry to hear that, Rob! Something happening to one of them, and then needing a $565 replacement is my worst fear with these.

Are you figuring you’re already a good
chunk of cash in, spend another decent chunk? Or cutting your losses and moving on?

Was it easy to break in half? And when you say it broke in half, do you mean the roundel was separated from the backing against it?
