F90 owners w/ CCBs
To all the F90 owners with carbon ceramics, what has been your experience thus far? Are you happy with the upgrade? Any issues with constant squealing when stopping? Any regrets?
This thread is purely to offer insight into living daily with CCBs on the F90, so please don’t turn this into a steel vs ccb war. |

I only have about 50 miles on the car, but they have been dead silent with no dust, and bite like hell even when cold. Maybe things will change as they wear in, but if it stays like this, they're the best brakes I've ever had by far (had 4 M cars before this one, all steel brakes). I'm shocked how good they are.

600 plus miles on my F90 with CCBs. No dust, no brake squeal. Work perfectly, cold or hot. Initial "bite" when braking requires a more sensitive application of the pedal, no big deal once you're aware of and familiar with it. Virtually the same experience as I've had with the CCBs on my M4GTS. All in all, I like them. Some have said they wouldn't spend the money for them. Ok, don't. I did and would again. Are they practical? Is a $125,000 sports sedan practical? To each his own. You asked about owner's experience with the CCBs, mine is positive.

I have around 2500 miles, and thus far haven’t experienced a single squeak, rattle or speck of dust. My only regret is waiting so long to get my first set of CCB’s. Performance aside, they look fantastic, exotic and expensive. Not to everyone though... I was getting a tint job from my installer and as he was eyeing my car he said “looks like you’ve been having too much fun, your rotors are shot”
Me: “they’re carbon ceramic brakes” Him: “oooh” |

My experience thus far is that they bite harder and sooner than steel at any temperature. Very little pedal input results in substantially more braking response than steel, which I like. Inspires confidence.

From what I understand, if you do find you're getting squeeking from the brakes, you can get some of Porsche's Anti Rattle Discs or similar (something like this but for whatever size they actually are) installed and that should help significantly.
Meanwhile though, their lawsuit continues lol *shrug*. Kind of silly but it's a thing. I personally don't think I'll be tracking the car enough to warrant the cost and the potential problems so not going to be opting for them. The replacement costs are also kind of daunting :| |

I recently changed the spec on my 19' Comp to CCB's after driving my friend's M5 that has them.

Good lord, just getting rid of all the dust is worth the price tag. That stuff destroys the rims. I was on the fence, but you all have convinced me!! Thank you!!

No dust is certainly a big plus, but after reading a lot of threads which says how fragile CCB are and what is the cost of replacing them, I think that I will go for steel breakes in my 2019 F90 Competition build. Here you can read some more about problems with CCB:

In writing up my F90 purchase, my SA, in trying to sell me the extended maintenance package (which is like an expensive trip to the private poker tables at the Bellagio), mentioned that a brake job on an M vehicle can run $4000-5000. In all my BMW life I've done front bakes only and only once, and that was after the warranty had expired and at an indy mechanic, and I think it ran around $900 for the fronts. If the M5 can run $4-5K for steel brakes, I can only imagine what the ceramics run. I'll live with the squeal and the dust, and use the $8500 toward maintenance.

I have been looking for one with CCBs Shocked that no dealer seems to have any cars in stock with that option. It is a must have.
