MyGenius OBD Flashing

Is MyGenius map flashing a popular option for the F90 M5? If not, what tools are you guys using to do OBD flashing?

Never heard of it but that does not mean that it's not a good option.

That is what a lot of tuners use. Not much flashing yet on this platform due to warranty loss and the cars being so expensive, though.

Do piggybacks guarantee you won't lose warranty?

No of course not, BMW can stalk your social media posts and subpoena your credit card statements for example. It at least gives you a fighting chance as no obvious trace is left behind in the cars modules. Flash tuning on the other hand it's game over before you start as the ECU modules, trans modules, gateway, and others all reveal it was flash tuned.

Yes but usually only if it goes to court. Few cases get that far.

If you plug into the obd2 port, BMW can easily trace what happened with telematics.

It's a real stretch. The cars run 10.9s stock, take a stock car down a slope and it can easily run 10.2-10.3s 1/4 mile. They can't provide you tuned the car based on telemetries with a few exceptions. Like if you somehow exceed the speed limiter they can see that, or if you over-rev the engine they can see that.

Do tunes not adjust air to fuel ratios? I'm sure that would be pretty evident if they were not typical values...

With the JB4 everything observed by the ECU's is within the factory specifications range. It's a limit of how things have to be for a JB4 to work properly but also a blessing in that it keeps it under the radar. With flash tuning you can do a lot more but of course that can all be tracked. So it's just part of the trade off if deciding to flash car or not. You can do more flashing it but also with much more risks of things going wrong and detection. So the gains have to be really good vs. just a JB4 to justify it. I'm not sure the F90 flash tuning is that much better yet based on the track results I've seen.

A BMW employee told me they know everytime when/what is plugged into the OBD2. Now what they do with that database or how motivated they will be to look into the database.,,,,,,.
