Installed AA Green Air Filter...Extremely Happy

Well, like the title says, I installed the AA air filter last night and took the car for a spin. The most noticable difference is in the sound...as in lack of it. Ever since I installed my Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system there has been an annoying rattle coming from the air box when I stomp on the loud pedal. Now that I have installed my new air filter that sound has been reduced by about 90%...I noticed it right off.

As for extra horspower...who knows...butt dyno says the car is quick, but it said that before the filter install. I have noticed a bit more responsiveness though, and a bit more in the mid range/top end, but it might be just wishful thinking. Mods like this usually don't result in huge measurable gains...usually 4-6hp or so, but each mod that adds a little bit of power quickly adds up. I could tell just by looking at it that it will flow better than the stocker, and I'm sure it is the perfect compliment to my exhaust system.

Next up, pullies and a tune.

Just installed my AFE filter from JLevi as well. Waiting on my black grills this week to install the scoops just so i don't have to take it apart twice and I was short on time. I notice a big change in sound in between 3-4k Rpm. almost like a raspy sound from the filter between these RPM ranges. I've heard of people complaining of a "rattle", but i think its just the way the less restrictive filters sound. Also i notice a slight change in responsiveness and maybe a slight power gain but nothing your going to notice off the bat. But like the OP said it all adds up. Next on my list is exhaust. Not enough out of the stock system for me. Then a tune.

-Butt dyno is notoriously inaccurate.
-Every mod we buy we WANT it to feel faster.
-The gains from an air filter are in the noise levels as far as performance gains. Meaning temperature, driver ability and style, grip and many other factors will cause more variation, much of it random, than the filter.

Filter will allow more free flow giving you better gas mileage and allowing the engine to run smoother. when you include other performance mods and flash your ecu it helps in power.

I just tried to order the green air filter and a great air filter cleaning kit directly from AA. Has anyone else noticed that their shipping rates are ridiculous? The cheapest shipping option is FedEx Home. And, shipping to MD is $38! That's like 38% of the total cost of the two items! It's not like those two items are that big or heavy.

Do you guys know who else sells AA filters and the cleaning kit?

AA Pulley is awesome! Installed mine myself... really easy process. Took longer than it was suppose to because those tensioners are a pain. Got AA HFC and Catback. Software is siting on my desk lol..

BTW let me know if you want the torque specs for the crank pulley and idler pulley bolts. I posted a small thread in the DYI discussion.

Thanks for the review

On the race car build we currently working on the customer actually requested an intake system, we dynoed before and after and actually gained 10whp over the full intake system with just our filter alone.

The stock air box is extremely efficient and well designed.

I have the AA pulley filter and exhaust and love them all. Super build quality and nice little noticeable gains.

Were you saying the stock intake with your filter made 10 more than some aftermarket intake? Or some aftermarket intake plus your filter made more than the completely stock system?

Also, OP, why would your original filter be rattling? You had the OEM one? Mine fit really snug and so does my BMC but wonder why it was rattling

That is just filter alone no intake. And gains are over completely stock intake meaning no filter.

We installed the stock intake and added our green filter which increased the dyno numbers by 10 whp constantly.

The filter vs oem filter has shown gains of 8 Whp and 5 Tq.
