First M5! Full Build & Future Mod List

Hey Guys,

This is my 3rd BMW but my first time building my car and waiting for it to be produced, shipped and delivered... I knew it was going to be hard to wait, but damn!!!

Here is my build:

2020 BMW M5
Black Sapphire Metallic
Full Black Merino Leather
Executive Package
Driving Assistance Plus Package
Bowers & Wilkins Sound System
Carbon Fiber Kidney Grills
Carbon Fiber Side Grills
Carbon Fiber Pro Rear Spoiler

Planned Mod List:

IND Painted Front Reflector Delete
IND Painted Rear Reflector Delete
Gloss Black Exhaust Tip Change
Gloss Black M5 Trunk Logo Swap
Mode Carbon Carbon Fiber Trophy Rear Diffuser
Window Tint (thinking 30%)
Possible Car Wrap - Frozen Black Metallic

I ordered the car at the beginning of November. The build was put in immediately and by Nov 12th I had a completion date in sight! Everything was going smoothly and my car was completed Nov 25th. It was picked up from the factory and arrived at port on November 29th. Still waiting for the car to get assigned to a ship.

I will update this post with images when I pick up the car and after my modifications

What builds and modifications have everyone done? Any other suggestions on modifications?

Dry Carbon Paddle Shifter, CF Steering wheel trim, CF Gear Shifter trim, coding, M550ix spring, wheel spacer, and more.

Oh oh, limeypride and Hockeytyme will convince you on ceramic iDrive controller.

I will probably start doing those interior CF mods after I get the car think about what I actually want to change.

What coding would you recommend? What spacers are you running on the M5? Have pictures of what it looks like?

PM me your email address, I'll send you the checklist.

If you are not lowered, I have been doing either 11/11 or 12/12 to my customers.

If you are lowered (pictures attached), either 15/11 or 15/12 on the stock wheels.

Finally picked up the car this week! It was a long wait, but once I got in that car to drive it - realized it was all worth it. I am coming from a Competition M3 and

Dropped the car off at Phenomenal Vinyl in Long Island today. They will be doing the following:

1. Full PPF Wrap
2. Ceramic Pro Coating
3. 35% Window Tint

Here are some pictures of the car when I picked it up and left it at Phenomenal Vinyl. Very excited to get everything done.

After the installs, I will be doing the rest of the modifications:

1. Front and Rear Reflector Delete
2. Black M5 Badge Swap
3. Black Exhaust Tips Swap
3. Mode Carbon Trophy Rear Diffuser Install

Thanks!

I will be driving this car down to the Jersey Shore and up into the Catskills Mountains - I have houses in both locations. So plenty of times I won't be in the NYC traffic.

Hey BMW Fam!

I just picked up the F90 Beast yesterday from Phenomenal Vinyl. I was itching to get back in the car and see how all the mods came out.

The car looks amazing I know a lot of owners here love the other BMW colors for contrast and depth when looking at the F90. However, I have had multiple cars with all different colors but never a black car. I have always wanted to do a full blacked out car and man did it come out great!

I am so happy I got the Full PPF done. The car is going to stay looking great and it is going to be much easier to maintain over the years.

Let me know your thoughts. I definitely plan on getting some professional shots done in the spring.

Looks amazing! It really does look savage.

OP - why didn't you go for the competition package? Just curious. Apologies if it has already been asked and answered.

Thanks so much! Just drove it down to the Jersey Shore and had such a great first real ride.

Glad you asked! My wife and I are 6 months pregnant with our first child. I'm only 31

I had the Competition M3 before this car and absolutely loved it. However, my wife did not like how loud it was as well as the ride. The ride was very stiff and unforgiving, especially when you have multiple passages in the car. My wife just got the new 2020 Range Rover, so we have the truck covered for moving things. But I needed to switch to an AWD car with more room so I can have a baby seat in it if needed.

I still needed the thrill of a sports car, but wanted more refinement and luxury. Obviously I was going to get the M5! But I decided to get the Base M5 instead of the Competition so I would get the softer ride and a slightly more subdued exhaust note. The ride is great in the base M5 and you can easily put it into Sport + to get that stiffer setting when pushing it hard on a nice road. The only thing that I miss is the exhaust note. There is some tuning possibly in my future to help fix that.

I got the upgraded sound system and some Carbon Fiber pieces to compensate for not going with the Comp version. All in all, I don't see that I am missing out on anything. The car is amazing and I probably won't be tracking it like my Comp M3.

What are your thoughts?

100% makes sense; the comp feels definitely harsher to me than the base when i test drove. However, my vanity and the need for the souped up M took over rational decision making My wife rarely rides in my car but does not appreciate the harshness.

Thank you for posting these pics. I've been looking for a pic of a black car with the performance spoiler and mode carbon diffuser for a while. The Mode carbon diffuser is so in your face, love it.
