Different Tire Temperatures

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I posted this in the "Tires wheels, etc" portion and no bites... Maybe here.

I was driving a long trip and took time to check on almost all facets of car and driving data. 1250 miles worth, each way.
I noticed that the tire temperature on the left front tire is always higher than the others. Has anybody noticed this too? Is mine the only one?
Why would this be? I was thinking that there may be some engine venting there that may cause this.
Any thoughts?

Yes. I believe the oil cooler is near there. We all have the same response.

Yes, always a degree or two higher. If you check the “ sticky thread” above on the general forum (complete F90 technical manual) you’ll see the two auxiliary radiators (engine and inter cooler fluid circuits) sit outboard on the side intakes. Oil cooler sits in the middle horizontal in front of main rads. But in the end it will depend on how the exiting hot air from the above coolers move under / through the engine bay toward wheel well. Could be just unbalanced hot airflow exiting or the left auxillary rad.

Thank you for the repsonses. Mine is 5-8 degrees F more and was simply curious as to why. had the SA look at whether had bad bearings or something, but no issues were found. Just a curiosity to me. I figured it was venting of something from the engine compartment as well.

Mine is usually one degree hotter. Yours is 5 to 8 degrees higher, that is not right. Perhaps something blocking air flow to cooler? Leaves? etc.?

Mike

(I have a bunch of leaves in front of my radiator, I have to get those out at some point LOL)

If I really get the engine going, the front driver's side tire info can be 10-15 degrees hotter than the other three.

At the track, all tire temps were approaching 200 degrees.

Careful airing those down! Scalding temps.
