The boat position will only update when it's in range of ship to shore, or at least so it appears. The boat my car was on made a ton of stops and even going across the Bay of Biscay it stopped updating until it got closer to Spain.

I had dropped off my car for oil change and clicking/cracking sound when steering is at full lock and the guys apparently did this update with out me requesting it.
When i first drove off the lot i couldn't believe how much louder my base m5 with comp exhaust became, mostly as described the pops and crackles are like gun shots, whats ironic i went for the service so that once i get my car back i can install lower downpipes i got from ER. Now I'm debating if i should even instal them since this update pretty much did it for me and i don't want it to be any louder than it is. HOWEVER i have a huge concern that the car actually got slower rather than faster, so the throttle response is definitely better but the car feels slower on top end, and i had a JB4 installed on my cat when it was at service (it was on stock map) now however i feel like the car isn't even responding to the jb4 as in when i switch through the maps it pulls the same as stock. Wonder why that may be since jb4 isn't a flash and reseting the ecu or flashing the dme shouldn't effect the jb4, or am i wrong?

My parents bought a 2019 M5 yesterday. They had to do a software update before we left the dealer. When I tested the exhaust sound in sport plus mode with the exhaust button on I expected it to sound muted and dull based on the videos I had seen online.... I was very surprised to hear how good it sounded. Deep, loud, burbled and popped but it was a good sound, not over the top and excessive. It sounded like it had an after market exhaust or the m performance exhaust but it was stock. The car isn't even broken in yet as it only had 26 miles on it at the dealer.
I swear BMW heard the complaints about the M5's sound and addressed it with a software update because it sounds amazing honestly. |

Would you mind sharing the last 7 digits of your VIN?

I don't think it's retroactive in the EU either.

I assume it's at least somewhat retroactive, ie the changes are being done to cars that have already been delivered. Pretty sure that would not happen to US delivered cars unless it's a safety issue or if the manufacturer decided to do it on it's own.

Does anyone know if this will negatively impact Canadian owners? I have the "1MA - M Sport Exhaust System" and would hate to lose its sound.

There is no requirement for EU (or at least UK) cars to have a software update to address this issue.

My M5 with the M sports exhaust system without GPF has received the update yesterday.
The encoders, favorites, M button settings, etc. are all gone but ASD stayed off. I noticed immediately that the steering wheel behavior and the throttle response are different. Unmistakable is the noise of the M sports exhaust system on Sport Plus with open flap. Pops and burbles till ca. 70 km/h. At higher speed no pops and burbles anymore. I'm surprised about the new noisy setup for lower speed after the software update. I will do a new dyno test with summer tires in spring and hope that the noise also has a positive impact on performance. My dealer has told me that there will be a new update next year, where more optimizations will be made. Let's wait and see what's coming and who knows, maybe a more beautiful sport display come to life. Currently the display look like a sphygmomanometer. 😎 |
