Did you tint windshield over the light sensor?

20% tints, no tint on windshield.

I did 20 around and 45 on my windshield with no dash dimming issues. During the day I just spin the dial to max and leave it alone until the sun goes down then drop it down to min.

I hate this - I notice it too if I am diving in full sun or shaded areas.

I wish they would allow you to just disable this feature. Obviously dimmer at night but I want one brightness during the day.

Noticed this on a 2020 X5 loaner last week as well.

The light sensor is in the bottom left corner of the gauge cluster.

There is no way to disable or govern the dimming natively. It is, however, code'able--I've had mine coded this way for a month or so now and the problem has gone completely. For those that are familiar with coding, the settings are more involved for Live Cockpit than in IDrive 6... but nonetheless fixable.

Which section is this under? I'm not finding it (F90, BimmerCode with UniCarScan)

It's not a single setting anymore as it once was with iDrive 6 (DIM_VARIANT)—changing this has no effect on iDrive 7. It works perfectly on iDrive 6 so if you have anything earlier than a 2020 MY M5, use DIM_VARIANT. Google it to find which module it's in, it's widely known.

Wrt/ iDrive 7: I don't know what was changed since I use a coding guy (who's become a friend; a great guy even though he's French ) that Vic55 referred me to. He spent multiple man days figuring this out through trial, error and a substantial sprinkling of intelligence and experience. You can contact him at: richcodedmycar@gmail.com
