It likely will take them some time to get the "ok" from corporate for any hp/tq increase to be "approved" and could be factoring into the wait we are seeing.

I would imagine though that any flash tune would most certainly be a "your on your own" scenario if you grenade your sweetheart's drivetrain.
Dinan products, AFAIK, it is not BMW Corporate Waranty or BMWNA Warranty that is extended to you through Dinan products.
It is Dinan who will warranty your car against BMWNA if there is any damages occurs due to Dinan's product.

Again, AFAIK, BMW will void the warranty right after the installation and anything happened to your car, you will need to pay BMW first then ask Dinan to reimburse you or you wait for Dinan to reimburse BMW dealership before you can take the car home.

Maybe Dinan_Engineering can confirm on how it supposed to work.

But to answer your question in short, yes in a way, your will have warranty, but not OEM BMW Warranty.

No. It expressly talks about wheel horsepower (675+ anticipated) and wheel torque (700+ anticipated) for their upcoming flash tune.

They also have a piggyback upcoming but no claimed numbers yet.

I had Dinan stage 3 on my m4. I purchased the Dinan thru my dealership and they installed it. At one point there was a problem and Bmw screwed up trying to fix it - car was in/out of the dealership for 3 weeks. Dealership working with Dinan found the fix - faulty cable connection... this was after Bmw tried three previous fixes. Well my wattanty was never voided, I never paid a dime and Dinan and dealership worked it al out. There was no drama. This was about 9 mos ago.

Moral of the story: find a Bmw dealer that's a Dinan distributor. You pay more for Dinan not really because of more performance but to avoid pissing matches over warranty.

People are always posting stuff like Bmw and Dinan can't get along but my experience has been the opposite.

Dinan could be teaming up with Steve at Carbahn. He already has a flash tune for the other formats and is working on the F90. Plus he already offers the warranty bridge. My take, the warranty bridge from Dinan or Carbahn is no different than any third party warranty. Read the fine print. It will cover what it covers. Flash the DME, pop an engine, BMW, rightly so, will deny, then the third party document will rule. Gray area is what happens if a trans or diff fails....excessive torque beyond design standards or faulty part...

I do sell and install Dinan products too.
I just share on what I've seen and heard.
The part that annoys me is when a customer got caught up in the middle.

Strange deal. This forum is a major buyer of F90 parts, yet the info is hidden at SEMA. I would have blasted this place with pics before the SEMA trip.

Dinan is slow to the game. Their website doesn't even include the F90 on the drop down boxes.

Cut them some slack.
It is the only week in a year that they can max out on the cholesterol, waking up drunk, and strip club hopping every night.

@Dinan_Engineering how about some details please? More than a few people including myself are waiting for info from you to pull the trigger on your product vs another. At a certain point, without any actual information from you, we're forced to go the other direction.

Release date ? Gains?

Please hurry. I'm tired of my F90 feeling slower on the freeway than my Dinan F10.

Also, what are the pros and cons of Flash v. Piggyback system (sorry if a newbie question). Pretty sure I had Piggyback on F10 (black box under hood).

Thanks!

There is no teaming up with Carbahn. They are doing there own 3rd party thing. Ours is being developed in house.

Warranty is pretty straightforward -- if BMW NA denies a warranty claim due to a Dinan part then Dinan steps in and pays for the claim. Dealership gets handled by either BMW NA or Dinan. Yes, there are gray areas that we will fight back on if needed (BMW NA denies a a popped engine that has a Dinan intake on it as well as other parties tune and DP we will not cover as an example) but generally its pretty straight forward.

SEMA is a major source of media and they like to have first dibs on everything. If they know its the first time its being seen they tend to pay more attention and visit the booth more, do more interviews, etc. Nothing against the forums per se, but we get more out of mass media and its harder to acquire those sources. SEMA is an easy way to get that attention so we take advantage of it when possible.

I can put up an empty listing page if you like but it will just be that, empty (minus a windshield banner and some license plate frames). Once a product is released to retail a F90 M5 section will pop up.

I wish. Maybe for some folks at SEMA thats a reality. What I get every year are 18-20 hour days of standing in a booth and entertaining/meeting dealers, partners, customers and suppliers during the show and into the wee hours of the night. That's not my idea of the greatest time ever. It's exhausting.

I think Taylor and Ben did a decent job of answering questions as they came up in the Facebook Live post as they were in the parade line out of SEMA if you wanted to check that out. Albeit it does start off quite slow.

Short of it is there isn't a whole bunch of anything concrete to say. I personally dont like advertising a date when we know full well that date could be delayed numerous times over. Stuff will be done when its done. Best I can offer is some general information at this time...

Axleback exhaust you will see released in the near term. Was in a rush for SEMA prep with the vehicle so I don't have any exhaust videos to share. Once the car comes back to us this week I am sure that will be one of the bigger priorities. X-Pipe / Resonator delete is basically finished but tooling will dictate how soon that will come to market.

Most of the suspension stuff (Coilovers, sways, monoballs, toe links, etc) should be out in the first part of 2019 barring any major catastrophes.

Intake is many months away. Its a problematic design.

Tuning is a bit all over the place. Prototype piggyback is on the vehicle but has a few hurdles to overcome hence its non-inclusion of performance data. Ultimately that could be resolved very quickly or be drawn out. Just depends on the engineering folks. Flash tuning will come to the platform but it has been determined that the new delivery system (that is still being developed/tested) is best served starting on the older generation F87 M2, F80 M3, and F82/83 M4 to begin with. Its a simpler protocol. So that is the first focus and will be coming out in Q1 2019 (possibly sooner but want to play it safe). B series engines and the M5 would follow thereafter. While I am not a huge fan of this course of action / order it is what it is.

@Dinan_Engineering. Appreciate the candor. With the flash tune being 1st quarter 2019 or beyond, it's too far out to continue waiting unfortunately. Especially with no concrete hp/tq figures to give us a reason to wait. But still, thanks for giving us the update.

Thank you for the honesty. Hard to understand the complication with a piggyback? Hoping updated info comes out regarding the piggyback which is an easy and primitive way to increase power anyway. Understand the delay with flash which is much more robust and complicated solution. Thanks again

Everyone relax and give Dinan_Engineering some credit. They are the only aftermarket tune I see providing a warranty where others won't. That requires extra scrutiny to ensure performance is maximized with minimal risk to engine damage. After all they have to eat that cost if the tune is the cause. I ran Dinan in my M4 with quite noticeable gains without ever having any issues. This included no issues with the dealer. I love the peace of mind when something is backed with warranty. I ran an after market supercharger on a different vehicle make and had nothing but problems. I ended up trading it out to get rid of the headache. Keep up the hard work Dinan and I look forward to your product when it is ready.

Me too! I was really hoping for more details and a release very soon because I was seriously considering their tune and exhaust again as I have had it on both on my last two Ms because I have Classic BMW in Plano which is a great Dinan support dealer but I am not going to wait this long. Probably going to go with Remus and Racechip to start. Maybe the Eventuri carbon Intake as well.

bump the HOT topic!

I just saw a release of a tune for:

2018-2020 BMW F87 M2C
2015-2018 BMW F80 M3
2015-2020 BMW F82 / F83

What about F90 M5 - it's been a long time since the last update. Is there anything for our cars in the production?

I inquired to multiple longtime Dinan dealers and they all checked and reported back to me that a flash tune was still a long ways away for the F90. They did the other models first and are still working through those to start.
