M5 seat lights

I know it's something small but is it possible to code them to stay on all the time or possibly wire them up to stay on instead of just being on when the doors open

Why? You want your head to glow when driving?

I was surprised that wasn't an IDrive option, TBH. Seems like a lot of effort and expense to make them glow for 5-10 seconds only when you get to the car.

I can't imagine that this couldn't be coded. I think it would be a nice touch to have them on all the time too!

I've only had my car (2020) a couple days but are the emblems on the seats supposed to light up as you approach the car without touching the remote? Mine don't seem to do it unless I unlock the car.

I'm not sure how they would know that you're approaching the car?

I would imagine the same way the car knows your key is in your pocket to unlock the doors.

All you have to do is pop the emblem out, attached red and black wires to red and black wires for 9v battery connection and use an duracell battery.
Bingo, solved

Sorry I thought you meant as you walked up to the car - not when your 8 inches away from the door handle and touching it

The door opening requires almost physical contact to open the car. That movement wakes the car and possession of the key together unlocks the car.

The lights are operated when the door is opened or unlocked.

Thanks for that info. I was misguided by a review I read before purchasing and thought it was just being within a certain vicinity of the car which I thought was cool.

My wife's Highlander puddle lamps do this. As you approach the SUV they light up with the word Highlander on the ground. It's pretty cool to be honest and also convenient in dark areas. I would be nice if our M5 headrests did the same.

My car sometimes thinks I the key is missing when I'm sitting in the driver's seat, so it might have a hard time picking up when I'm approaching.
