Done and done, bless you sir !!
It's a 5 series BMW. That it is quiet inside is what is generally known as a 'good' thing, in terms of luxury automobiles. It is simply a land borne missile as well. .....which brings me to guidance. Not sure why all the noise (pun intended) about not knowing what the car is doing without hearing fake engine sounds is about, but I do suggest those enslaved to such a concept invest in honing scans and fortifying far more relevant skills when it comes to the M5: you are gonna need 'em. Exactly why there is more than one flavor of ice cream, I get it, but do not presume to legitimize what is simply little more than an attempt to undo that which BMW has already been done ........WELL......in designing a luxury sedan that is quiet inside. |

Just as long as you are enjoying yourself, more power to ya. .....an audiogram may be in your future, however. |

Couldn't we just code it out?

Just unplugged mine. I have insta-p but need to get a power supply for coding; that system is not as simple as Carly or Bimmercode.

such a large and complicated module for such a simple thing, easily cured if they made the exhaust louder for real, the advantage to unplugging this crap is reducing weight!

I saw somewhere that there is an adapter that needs to be plugged into the disconnected parts in the trunk. Does anyone know if this is really necessary? Can the fake sound be coded out easily on the LCI?

IIRC however if its left unplugged when the car is in for service and an attempt is made to update the software then I believe the update will fail with an error (that may confuse the tech). So I plug mine back in when a service is due just to be on the safe side. Even this inconvenience doesn't stop me from unplugging it the moment I get home...I find the fake noise too annoying. |
