what's the highest oil temp ur 335s ever got?

i've had my car for about 3 weeks now. the first 700 miles, the oil temp was around 230 at most. it was driven on days w/ outside temps 40s to 50s. today, the weather was pretty nice, around 65, my temp went to 245ish, and i never had my rpm gone pass 4k. i know turbo engines run a little hotter than regular ones, but today was only 65 degrees and driven pretty gently. what's gonna happen when the summer comes and i redline that thing on my first 3 gears? should i be concerned? oh yea, i did check my oil temps, and it was at the max line.

so what's the highest oil temp your 335 has gone to? pls share your thoughts and experiences w/ a first time turbo owner.

In the 240 range when I'm driving 120-140 MPH on the Autobahn for long durations. Otherwise it stays about 230. If I'm stuck in traffic, the motor actually runs close to 240ish as well.

I'm sure those temps are normal but much higher than my S4. It sits at 200 for normal driving and 225-235 if I'm pushing it or at the autocross. (chip/downpipe/exhaust)

I'm sure the 335i was designed this way but it does seem to run on the hotter side. I'm sure we'll see some oil cooler kits coming out eventually.

Mine seems to work up to 240 and stay other than heavy traffic or high speeds. Traffic up to 250. Over 100 mph and temp alreadyat 240 up to 260 to 265. Almost looks like thermostat control aims for 240. Stays there most of the time. Houston temps from 90's down to 70's. When air temp is cooler takes longer but finally warms up to 240.

Talking Temps

230 - 240 average here in Arizona. On a recent trip to San diego it almost got up to 250 on the long grade in to San Diego on a hot afternoon. I'm hearing rumors on a massive recall for this issue, have any of you heard anything along these lines?

Why would they recall a car for having an oil temp that its designed for. According to bmw, all temps posted so far are normal... keep in mind, the oil runs through the turbos, turbos get hot...

the 275 temp sounded like it was caused by the problem, not the cause of the problem... 275 is still a normal temp according to the manual

Got to tear up the new BMW 335i twin turbos yesterday at Autobahn. We had a group out there

that PDI instructed and I did the lead/follows session with my group.

First, the good:

The car displays virtually no turbo lag. The acceleration feels on par with Janica's S4, it's extremely balanced on the track (I could not induce oversteer pushing them to about 8/10ths) and the stock brakes showed no fade whatsoever after a pretty hard 30 minute session. I must say, I was quite impressed. I was hitting 115 on the front straight of the north track. On top of all this, they have run flats on the car! Yes, run flats. With race rubber this car would rock! Very nice car. The backseat room is quite a bit larger than the previous model and of course the interior amenities are excellent.

Now, the bad news:

Each and every car overheated and shut down. Hmmmm, how's that? Yup! The oil temperature on every car shot to 300 degrees and the cars shut down. We learned that early on and instructed every driver to watch it closely. Driving amounted to about 5 hot laps, 2 parade laps, and so on. Never saw anything like it yet. Talk about a fatal flaw on these vehicles. Can't wait to see this happen to the general public and see how BMW responds. I guarantee you we were not pushing these so hard that no one will ever experience what we did. In fact, one of the ABCC members took a car home with him and on his ride in to the track, aggressively I might add, overheated it and shut down on him.

Every car has an achille's heal. I guess this is it.
