They usually subtract things Will be interesting to see how they play the CS card with the M5.

They basically remove the center armrest and slap a badge on the trunk. But you already knew that.

It will be interesting to see what BMW adds here to differentiate the CS; more importantly what the premium will be.

Just emailed my sales guy this morning. I'm #1 on the list for the M5CS. Will be perfect timing with my M3CS lease expiration.

It's addition by subtraction. Can't wait to see what the M engineers come up with.

How about a lighter carbon seats with no massage, full alcantara interior, Michelin Cup 2s and a slightly modified F10 DCT with just a rear wheel drive (with proper aluminum paddles)... should be all it pretty much needs... cheap for bmw, more fun for us... obviously one can dream about a 6 speed manual option 😌

I just hope they don't remove the Comfort Access like they did in the current CS. 🤣

I think it's retarded to make a CS version of a car that weighs over two tons. Even if they shave off some weight, it's a sports "sedan" not a "coupe". This is purely a money grab from loyal M customers. If you care about improving lap times, you don't buy a sports sedan. The M5 is super sports saloon intended to blend luxury and super sport into one package. CS is meant for more hardcore, track-focused applications.

Oh well!

Definitely a money grab, agree on that. The timing likely coincides with 1-2 yrs left before F90 sunsets, and next gen comes out. The CS is an extra monetization of the current platform. Whether they'll botch it or actually put out a sensible option is TBD; hopefully the latter, of course.

I agree somewhat and at the same time I disagree! It can be a ton of fun shaving off time with a heavier car and feeling your tires get pushed to their absolute limits underneath you. Also, only a person that haven’t taking out an F90 M5 on a track can talk about how that car is big and heavy and hence is not good/fun on a track... the reality is that an M5 is an absolute riot on a track and will be faster than any M3/4 CS/GTS/whateverS on most of the tracks.

Well, hopefully they bring back some of the missing steering feel. My 2020 is on order, but I test drove it in the mean time and, while the steering is direct, I did not get a good sense of road feedback. It's not completely numb, however.

That’s because they’re using electric servo now instead of hydraulic. Unlikely that they go back to hydraulic.

If this car is rear-wheel drive only, it will be a no for me.

Nah, that won't happen. If you take away AWD you actually reduce performance of the car.

I'm confused by this. This car is too big/heavy to be a dedicated track superstar so I don't know why anybody would sacrifice any additional comfort/luxury beyond the M5C.

but somebody will buy it so I guess I've answered my own question.
