1. No one said the M5 was an F1, which I agree is a legend. You said the M5 is more like a 5 series sellout and I was pointing out the horsepower is in supercar territory. They are two totally different cars. Reading is fundamental. 2.The SMG as I remember it was basically a piece of crap. Lurching, never felt in right gear, terrible. The V10 however was great. I agree D mode can be boring but the automatic handles optimal shifting in less than 200 milliseconds. You think you can do better than that? You can not. Here's an article still up about SMG. https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/11/28/s...m5-experience/ Was not a fan of DCT as well. You remember this one about DCT durability on high horsepower cars and the coming automatics? Explains the F90 tranny choice. https://jalopnik.com/bmw-m-boss-says...ill-1794558556 3. No vodka there? Thats too bad. Might help your mood. |

RS6 Avant?!? RS7!?! Come on! Audi platform shares with VW. These cars are transverse engine / front wheel drive and they add Quattro. Audi's drive like shit IMO. Understeer, overweight, poor weight distribution due to front drive platform/ transverse engine, bad handling.....they never feel like M cars at all

RS7, hopefully theres a more robust hybrid option by then above and beyond the existing new 48V mild hybrid. M8 Grand Coupe as well if they do Hybrid or the Taycan. I haven't received my M5 yet so I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

I love Audis, but they do understeer like pigs and are quite front heavy. Very different dynamic than the M5.

M5s have always been a compromise car. I have owned all generations since the E60 and have felt they offer a great package - comfortable, seats 4/5 people, performs well for what it is. But they are always limited by their size and weight.
Best solution is to keep the F90 and add a fun car, I just picked up a 720s which is a perfect stablemate. F90CS will be the obvious choice to replace the F90 when the time comes... |

Agree with the itch and glad to be in good company. M8 GC maybe comp version for me. Just wrestling with whether its ultimately paying 30 grand more for the exact same powertrain and possibly not as good handling. Thinking of just rolling with the M5 and putting the fun money into upsizing the boat.

the M8GC Comp is tempting, but I agree is a hard value prop with the same power train as the M5C. if power train weren't a consideration, then I'd likely be in a Panamera GTS with a RaceChip to close the power gap.
for me, the what's next list depends on if I'm in the same, or 1 step better financial circumstances. when I got my M5C my price cap was $135k. if that goes up, then AMG GT 63S comes into the picture. but M5CS is currently the leader in the clubhouse

Seriously, though, this is a family sedan (first) with daily thrills for the father who's not quite yet accepted parenthood or responsibility and (ninth) an occasional track sleeper (road course or dragstrip). |

Honestly nothing else comes close to the F90 and I've been looking since I'm at 20k miles now on the car. My plan is to get rid of the M5 when my 992 turbo comes in next year but that still will not do everything the F90 does.... |
