Still have a few years before the decision needs to be made, but maybe M8GC. Need to see the final product before making a decision. Also, not sure it'll justify its MSRP - $160+k has some really decent options, so unless they discount heavily, might try a 911. For now enjoying the M5C

Porsche Taycan or Ferrari Pista, perhaps RS6 Avant.

I switched from a 2018 X5M to a 2019 M5C and do not regret the decision one bit. The M5C puts a smile on my face everyday, whereas, the X5M did not. YMMV |

The first thing you want to do with an X5M is pulled the fuse for ASD, absolutely ridiculous feature. Also one problem with the X5M after 30,000 miles (besides squealing brakes) is that it is effortless in it's speed. Put your foot down and your gone, quite incredible for a 5600 pound vehicle but there is no feedback whatsoever, making the steering heavier in sport or sport+ is not feel. I remember my 1989 3 series, now that was a car that was engaging. It felt like you were one with the vehicle, like you were part of it. Now it is very difficult to get attached. I hope this make sense for the person who's looking to go into the X5M.

Thanks guys for feedback about X5M....i really wanted opinion from guys who drove X5M...only reason why i will go for X5M is trunk space..nothing else...im fully aware that there is no better sedan in market at this moment. M5 all the way, well if i sell the car..i go again for 2020 M5.

Nothing at a similar price point is speaking to me at the moment. May get into another M5 in 2 years if the story is the same. We shall see.

I would venture to say another M5. I've had 3 M5's, ordering my F90.....Have driven the 911 at least 20 times and never was happier getting into my BMW after those test drives.....Still seems best compromise of performance, comfort, convenience, function.

I recently went the opposite direction, from Porsche (991.1S and Spyder) to an M5. Not because I prefer one over the other, but because my needs changed. Horses for courses and all that. |

I came out of a 16 X5M. It's a great car but hard to compare, naturally, against an M5C. One thing I'll say is the full leather (and dash in general) was much higher quality in it than my M5C. Also not a single crackle or pop in the cabin, whereas M5C lets them off daily.
Looking forward to what the new X5M will look and feel like. |

- electric servo, so you can have park assist/lane assist, but less feedback from the road. Honestly, the M5 target is now people who can't park and can't stay in their own lane? - ZF8 because it can "handle more power". Let's be real, the DCT was able to handle a lot more power with the proper clutches and was a sports oriented transmission. The ZF8 is something you put in the regular 5 series, not the M5. These two things alone kill a lot of the feedback and joy from driving the car, even if it's a heavy 4 door saloon. Despite the F90 being an overall better package than the F10, it's not as engaging to drive.

I drove an M2C, M4C, and M5C back to back all day long on a track for two days straight, and I never once thought the transmission was getting in the way of this car nor did I ever think the M5C was less engaging than it's little brothers. It's a beast through and through.

Sorry to disagree but a 4 wheel drive beast with more horsepower than a McLaren F1 is in no way, shape or form like a regular 5 series. As for the park assist, I have it, doubt I ever use it and it certainly played no part in my buying decision or probably anyone else's. Also the tranny is really not bad at all, especially when compared to the prior SMG nightmare of the E60 or any of the DCTs I have driven. Instantly accessible power. Thats all I want from it and it delivers. So grab a Bulgarian vodka and lighten up. |

1. The McLaren F1 is almost 30 years old and is still considered one of the best cars ever built. The F90 is just a mass produced vehicle. Saying that the F90 is anywhere near the F1, just because it has more horsepower, doesn't have any relevance. 2. There was nothing wrong with the SMG III, let alone the DCT. To quote you - "perhaps you just didn't know how to drive it" Definitely not in D mode. 3. We don't drink vodka, that's the Russians. I'll stop derailing OPs thread. I'm not saying the F90 is a bad car, it's the best 4 door saloon currently. I'm saying it could have been a LOT better if it wasn't designed by BMW's Marketing team.
