DCT VS ZF

Hello Fellow Members,
I just ordered the car a couple of weeks ago. I previously had a F10 M5 which I absolutely loved. I always enjoyed driving the F10 in Manual mode using the Shift Knob. It just felt weird to use paddle shifters. My question is can ZF transmission be used manually with the Knob instead of paddle shifters & will remain in manual mode like the DCT.

Yes, I shift with the knob periodically, especially 1-2 or 2-1 while in a turn since the paddles can be tough to reach mid-turn.

It can, but the reality is ZF doesn't give you that sense of control, which DCT does. A always used manual mode in the M5 f10 amd now with the F90 I just don't like switching to the manual mode.

So no fun like the DCT as in Upshifts & Downshifts.

the F90 in D or Manual mode will creep forward like a traditional auto unlike the DCT. that for me is a big let down. The whole package however makes up for this "flaw"

It's not as good as the DCT for consistency of shift-speed but it's decent; faster by far than my 2017 Audi RS7 Performance.

I drive in manual mode perhaps 90% or more of the time... that says a lot. I also use both the paddles and the shift knob depending upon the situation and where my hands are relative to the paddles and knowing where they are in that equation... the shift knob doesn't move (somebody should tell AMG that).

I still can't understand why AMG keeps opting for column shifter. Is your car Singapore Gray & do you have MPE?

The ZF is a huge letdown if you love the DCT. It's a big step backwards as other parts of the car have taken a big leap forwards.

I know, right--at least the new GT 4-door has a shift-knob.

Yes, my car is SG--it's a Comp Pkg so it comes with that (unless I'm yet again mis-remembering the array of names they give their exhausts).

I'm all over the place on this topic but I don't think I'd go as far as that... but I get where you're coming from.

So you have a Msport (comp exhaust). I actually changed my order from MBB TO SG. I have always been a sucker for Blues but this time around MBB is not appealing to me. Anyways I can see some pics of SG if you have any.
Thanks

Yes, I pile on too many miles so I switch the leases on a regular basis.

I am so glad to have picked SG. I just hope it looks great in person too.

It does.

Get it ceramic coated since it keeps the shine when dirty.

No. If it were a long-term keeper, that would be on the menu.
