Which of the aftermarket exhausts for the M5 will produce the least amount of fart sounds/pops? I don't want to hear gun shot sounding pops on down shifts.

I'm not happy... I don't want my car sounding like a rice rocket to be completely honest and the twitchy throttle just removed one of the most impressive feats of the car - which is how smooth and linear the power was... Now I feel like I'm back in my stage 2 F80 with the throttle response lol... |

I’d agree... the update makes the steering heavier and the throttle more sensitive. I’m hoping the next update addresses these issues.

My other fear is - the next patch will reduce throttle / speed / steering / exhaust / burbles too low... No way we walk out of this unscathed, lol... Too many categories were tweaked... |

For those of you that received the update, what was the catalyst for getting it in the first place? Is it just a needed update that their computer says is needed? Or is it applied only under specific circumstances?

Seems that most of us is due to sensor related... Steering angle sensor and tire pressure sensor are the two I've heard...

I got the update because I asked for it while the car was in for an oil change.

I wonder if this update (with the louder exhaust etc.) is US specific. I was told yesterday that the M Performance exhaust isn’t offered in Europe (haven’t verified with my SA yet), supposedly due to tighter sound regulations.
edit: just confirmed with my SA, the MPE isn't offered in Europe due to it being too loud Last edited by Nikolov; 09-16-2019 at 07:50 AM.. |

If the software does indeed make the burbles/pops louder, it could be specific to the US (or anything outside Europe), if the MPE is too loud to be sold in Europe.
Would explain why my car sounds the same even though I updated my software as well. |

Nope, nothing different after the update, besides the TMPS no longer asking me to inflate the tires to 3.2 bar (which is why I had the software update)
As I said I’m sure they didn’t flash the ECUs, because the start/stop disable coding was still in place. The update did flash some modules, but I can’t say which ones exactly. They definitely flashed the NBT as all my saved quick dials were gone. |

Ok, so one thing I'm wondering if this is happening because of the update. So when I start the car (its done this about 4 times since I got it back a month ago) the dash turns on, and then goes blank. It will come on after a little bit, but the HUD is off, the heated steering wheel is active, and the heated seats are activated. It did not do this prior to the update. Its really odd.
