Flow Bench Tested the F90 secondary Cat.

BIG THANKS to Miko M for sending me his catalytic converter ! Test would not happen without him.

Factory secondary cat flows 542cfm at 28" H20

For reference, an open 2.50" pipe flows 515cfm.

An open 3" pipe maxes my bench at 702cfm.

Knowing that 3" flows at about 30% more, is there a way to calculate the amount of gain you get as far as TQ/HP?

Here is a chart to play with. From our bench to the dyno our numbers come out less than this chart shows in HP gains but it is a guide of sorts.

For example. Applying Flowbench numbers of the 2017 ZO6 cats to the chart will forecast a 35ish HP gain by eliminating all four catalytic converters on the 650HP stock engine. But, you remove them and a Dynojet will show around an 18hp gain at the rear tires. Converted back to engine hp to compare will be around 21hp vs the 35 chart hp. Cats are not good for power production,,,period...but a lot of variables go into hp gains by removing them. Turbos will spool quicker, but peak boost is DME controlled. Backpressure is reduced,,,always a good thing,,

I could hear turbo spool as soon as I replace the lower down pipes ( upper still EOM ) and I noticed it's little more responsive too, at start throttle.
Thanks for taking the time and posting this!!

As soon as a drop in air filter becomes available, I’ll remove the entire air filter assembly and see if it has any restrictions. Green is looking at making me a custom panel drop in.

If anyone has a primary catalytic converter, let me know. Would like to flow it also.

Heres a pic of an Eisenmann lower downpipe vs a stock downpipe. At this kind of cost for these, does it make sense to get a muffler shop to punch out the cats?

Not all quality options are overpriced out there, and you don't have to ruin your stock pipes.

Anything over $200-$300 max for two small bent pieces of pipe is overpriced! Please do tell me where these inexpensive down pipes are. I own an automotive/muffler shop.....

Most muffler shops charge $300.00 to delete a resonator on a Honda Accord and then replace it with a piece of pipe with welds looking like potatoes. Our pipes are 3D scanned and 3D modeled for 100% direct fit, hours of r&d on a development car, TIG welded by certified welders for art like welds and perfect flow, used highest grade 310 and 304 stainless steel, mandrel bent, cnc flanged, using high durability flex pipes.

It is like saying buying painting more $10 is overpriced.
The material doesn't cost more than $10. :

Resonator delete runs about $60 if you're interested. I'm actually going to make my own down pipes and cat back exhaust.... and if I can find a way to mass produce the system I'll be onto something very lucrative

to you and Miko M for coordinating to make this test happen. The world needs more real data like this.

Reading between the lines the F90 secondary cats don't seem to be a real factor when it comes to making more power but as with any turbo car removing some flow restriction behind the turbo should help spool / response.

I agree, its really helpful understanding the difference/gains you are getting by changing to aftermarket parts

I haven't been here for long time. Like to see what's new.

Both of them did awesome job giving us results on down pipes and air filter.

This is what everyone likes to see here is another test.
