Contrary to the critic of the OP - I do think this post is a valuable public service announcement:

1) if you have a 2019 or newer your car play will expire after 1yr without notice/reminder.

2) in order to re activate just call BMW assist from your car.

Update:

The cost is $80/yr or $300 for 10yrs. I believe the cost on a 2018 was $300 so essentially you get a year to try it and then simply pay the $300 you would have previously.

I'm still disappointed that there wasn't any warning via email or snail mail that it was expiring. I received my XM expiration notice well in advance.
