Has anyone compared with the Panamera GTS?

I know performance isn't on the same level. And the GTS will end up being $20k more.

But the GTS always seems to be the sweet spot in the P cars these days.

Anyone driven one yet?

You can get a ST 18 turbo with big discounts. No reason to go with GTS. Same detuned v8, more standard options on the turbo.

Was shopping for a M5 or E63 until found out about the crazy deals to be had on the Pannys. For a daily driver, the Porsche is less crazy and more polished. But still more expensive

Haven't pulled the trigger yet on the M5, but when I have thought about a Panamera as an option I always find myself wanting a Turbo which is obviously considerably more expensive. I have a friend who was able to shave almost 35k off his new Panamera Turbo by having 2 dealerships bid against each other. He loves the car, but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me. Pound for pound, price not being an option, I would still take the M5 Comp over any Panamera.

Agreed. I went through this before pulling the trigger on my F90. The interior on the P is awesome. The difference in price for performance and everything else was just not there...for me...

I have both the 4s Panamera and M5 comp. I love both of them. The interior of the Porsche is amazing. The performance/ speed on the M5 is jaw dropping. I had the 911GTS 2018 and the M5 is faster than that car. The Porsche gets a lot more attention (chalk ). If had to choose one.... tough choice. The Porsche is my weekend car and M5 my daily. I would say M5 comp

Agree if have to choose one. I was also looking at the quirky styled ST Panny which I like better than regular (also liked for rarity and space for road bike in back) vs M5C and couldn’t quite pull trigger on P car, being more expensive, not as fast, etc. Plus some tech is lagging on Porsche such as HUD which I think might be coming for 2020 and Porsche kills you with option list ... also Panny, especially ST is more color sensitive where it looks great in some (chalk &#128077 but not so great in others ... whereas M5 looks great in all colors, true testament to great styling.

M5C is the true wolf in sheep’s clothing.

i wouldn't ever consider a Panamera. I personally think it's awful looking and wouldn't consider it a "performance" car. Yes it's fast, but looking at it, and cross shopping it with an f90, there is no question.

The old model was very ugly. However, I think the new one with correct color looks awesome. It looks pretty much like a 911. I love the looks of it. But, I also love how mean the M5 looks.

I really like the new Panamera inside and out. The only thing I don’t like is the nickel-and-diming Porsche is well known for with their options. It just doesn’t make any Porsche a good value when compared to a package like the F90 M5. Then again, Porsche historically has never been known to be a good value ever. There’s a reason why their profit margins are among the highest in the auto industry. Charging extra for stuff that should be standard on a $100k+ car is absolutely ridiculous but the reality is, the average Porsche buyer is more than willing to pony up simply because of the brand. Porsche knows their brand’s selling power just as well as Apple knows theirs, so they will milk it as much as the market allows.

I honestly don’t care much about sheer performance numbers as much as I used to when I was younger. These days, I only care if it sounds good, handles well, is fun to drive, rides nice, is well built, looks good, and is “fast enough”. So the Panamera GTS actually fits the bill perfectly because it rides even better than the M5, looks great, and is fast enough (I really have no need for the M5’s sub-3s 0-60 sprints for daily driving). For me, the GTS really makes more sense. But that Porsche nickel-and-diming though... it just irks me, and just out of principle, could be the deal-breaker.

Panamera, even the new design, looks like a pregnant 911 to me. It's heavier and slower than the M5C and the options thing is a piss off. Hard pass.

Took the Panamera GTS for a two day test, for sure it's an amazing car. Still not sure which one to choose, M5 Comp or Panamera GTS.

Panamera looks stunning, for me, it's the most beautiful car on the market. M5 looks like a great car, attractive, aggressive.... but Panamera is in league of its own, it looks more as a fighter jet than a car. It's a piece of art.

The interior quality is just amazing, it feels like the car was not assembled but forged. Steering wheel is the only week point, I like the one in BMW (thicker and softer) much more.
Instrument cluster and central display both look great, but lack of physical buttons for certain things is a but frustrating(exhaust control, start stop, hight control etc. ). You have to use central screen for too many basic operations.

Engine is incredibly responsive, for sure does not have the power of the M5, so the acceleration is not really mind blowing, but should be more than enough in the long run.
Handling in the other hand is mind bending, it's like it is glued to the ground. Still, it suffers from a complete absence of feeling.
Engine sound is very nice, not too loud but still makes your heart flutter in the Sport mode. It's a good compromise for an every day car.
The gearbox is great and the launch control is brutal, the car gets launched with a loud bang, fantastic.

The car attracts a lot of attention, but somehow in a positive manner. People just admire the car. Few people on the parking even told me: "Great car!"

Comfort wise, I guess M5 is a bit more comfortable and convenient as an every day car. It's easier to get in and out, higher seating position, better visibility, similar space but much more headroom for the back passengers. Sound insulation is better in Porsche, less wind and road noise.

Now I want to do a similar extended test with the M5 Comp and have a clearer picture. Still, I'm quite convinced I will still not be sure which one I like better overall.

Is that a 2019 GTS? I too agree it's a good looking car. Much more style than an M5. I've narrowed my choices to: M5, new 2019 GTS, 2017/2018 CPO Panny Turbo or 2020 992. My dream car is a 911. I'm finally in a position in my life to get one, but unfortunately my health (back) has deteriorated. Just had surgery. Not sure if I will enjoy having it as a daily driver. However, all the other cars I've listed would be no problem as a daily driver. Either way, I'm ready to switch over to Porsche. The drive and fit/finish of the Porsche is top notch.
