Leasing and the M Performance Exhaust.
Ordering my car later today and was wondering if the M exhaust residualizes. Better deal if I only pay for 40% of it! Might be worth it if it sounds much better. Thanks!

Ok, I’m in the same boat. I have a build allocation for march and my car all spec’d out.. Now I’m wondering should I do the exhaust. Could I be rude and ask how much it added to your lease payment?

Good question... My guess is that the depreciated value at my 6% off and 59% residual is about 2775. I have a three year 10k lease. Easy enough to calculate. No interest monthly increase would be 77 a month. I think the total cost with MF is roughly $3000. Therefore maybe 83 a month?
Please check out my thread here for exact numbers and options. Doing the 7 pay MSD saves a bunch as well. Scott https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1792070

Good rule of thumb, you can generally calculate the extra cost in a lease by adding $13 for every $1000 in msrp. So a $3000 addition would cost an extra $39 a month.

Exactly then. I was using the actual depreciated value, not the msrp or 6% off actual cost. 13 per 1000 for a 6600 exhaust is pretty close to my 83 a month guess!

Nope, but my dealer has a beautiful fully loaded MBB M5C with the exhaust. If you want a louder and more E63 sound, this will do it. In fact it was borderline obnoxious on startup. 👍
It absolutely is noticeable. Settled down to a nice throaty burble after the cold start. I then compared it to my E63S and the Mercedes may still be a touch louder, but it is also a little quieter on the cold start. I definitely heard a difference versus the stock M5C I test drove a week earlier. Scott

It is super loud for like 20 seconds on start up.
Watch this vid. Also, what do you think of the interior.... this is what I am ordering with tanzanite exterior...

MPE
That's the best way to add any accessories if you're leasing. Have them port installed. Technically they can be residualized if the dealer installs them once the car is on ground but FS makes it very tough and you do not get the full 100% residualization.

For anyone on the fence about the MPE worried it might be too loud or aggressive, don't be. Like stated above, the one caveat is on cold start due to the way the induction and exhaust valvetrain are timed. Once passed, the sound is just straight up exotic + quality.
Know this, as it may be a matter of preference: the tone of the MPE is generally higher in pitch and smoother than say, an M550i with exhaust which turns into more of a muscle car sound. You will NOT get the deep and guttural V8 rumble from the MPE on the F90. It'll sound more like a flat-plane V8, to be honest. I happen to prefer the tone, but YMMV. Oh, also there is zero drone despite no longer being a valved system. The "exhaust sound" button no longer raises or lowers the exterior volume, but it does add in the pops and bangs. Any perceived increase in sound in the exhaust sound "on" mode is actually just in the interior - it's ASD programming only. |

Yeah, it settled down pretty quickly. I am used to my E63S which is a deeper more muscle car sound. I actually think it is not as loud as the AMG exhaust. More exotic seems about right. On another note, I added the CCB option. Mine is Tanzanite, but I have the ability to still make changes. MBB maybe a little loud for my taste. Not that many HQ Tanzanite pics. Should have my car by mid May...
