I still say the ultimate “hybrid” M5 would be the standard V8 AWD with the addition of a transmission mounted KERS system powered by high capacity capacitors. I assume the current F1 KERS is using capacitors for weight, capacity, discharge rate, etc so why not do this until battery technology advances enough? I don’t get the EV push. Science does not support this move…it’s all politics IMHO and, from a true Motorsport perspective, KERS is all that makes sense.

Will be interesting to see the new design language of the next 5. I see the G30/F90 to be more of a facelift from the F10 than a generation change like the E60 to the F10. I think BMW with the F10 design really nailed it and they didn't want to mess around with their bread and butter sedan with the G30/F90 design. My guess is that was the reason why the LCI G30/F90 didn't have the big grills too.

But it'll be nice to see BMW offer both a hybrid and ICE V8 for the next gen M5. Maybe the base M5 is hybrid while the comp will be V8. Or M550 is hybrid while M5 still ICE V8. We shall see.

As much as I have an internal fight against the ev movement, after seeing the Plaid destroy the CS in a drag race, I'm open to letting go of the grudge. The truth is, I'm not fishtailing the canyons, and I'm not on a race track. If you can line up at a red light and dust 99.99% of the makes out there, I'm open to a conversation.

Looks more 7-series-ish than 3 series-ish, which is less of a step in the wrong direction. Grills will be too big but at least it's not the beaver teeth.
