It looks to be longer in length and will certainly be heavier than the F90 M5 so a NO for me.

Hybrids can add significant power to offset the weight of a small-ish battery and electric motor. Like the Panamerica E-Hybrid Turbo S.

If it’s same v8 plus hybrid, plus forged internals on the motor part of it then hell yes.

I think it's very interesting. For sure the weight factor gonna be high but let's see what the M engineers do with suspension and carbon fiber reinforced plastic technology to overcome the added weight. It's rumored to produce 750hp of total output. That's a lot of power. I wonder what the driving dynamics will be with such a heavy vehicle.

I will believe it when I see it or an official release. The M5 chief was interviewed some time ago and as I recalled he indicated the F90 would not be the last ICE M5.

According to Marcus Flasch the ICE will continue after 2025. I think the next generation M5 will likely have an ICE drive train.

The question asked is as follow.
How long we still have to wait for a BEV M, 15,20, 25 or even more years?

Flasch answered.
We don't want to answer such a hypothetical question, we want and need to remain commercial relevant. It's no doubt the future, but when is now a question left unanswered. Also because the ICE still has a very long and important role to play. I can tell you this: as from 2025 we'll have all kinds of motors: ICE, PHEV and BEV and they will provide a solution for everybodies needs and wants.

Very interesting, lets see how it pans out, mine has just less than 2K miles on it so far so plenty of time left in it.

I think it'll go in the ways of the AMG73 hybrid ($200k) at 800 hp, and that'll be the top of the line. Maybe gas engines to be the lower trims.

Great... Just what we need. More dilution to the M line. Bad enough that they do this with M340, M550, et al. Shit, you can even get base 3 series with M accent packages.

I'd buy a M5 that was as fast as a plaid but was in every other way like my CS. Otherwise, nah.

I wonder what they will do for the next generation M5 CS model. Or if they will even offer one? What's the point of a CS model if the car weighs 5k lbs? I guess only time will tell.

I agree. I'm not sure where BMW goes next with the M5 brand. I am still enjoying mine though.
