I also contemplated the AWE cat back switch path exhaust for my M5. I went with the Remus cat back instead. One the main reason for not going with the AWE was the lack of a muffler. I spoke with AWE and the rep stated they tuned the exhaust so there was no need for a muffler. Living in California you can get a ticket for not having a muffler installed. I listened to the Remus and BMW M performance, and Akrapovic. I never met anyone locally that had a AWE installed. I know my Remus in sport + with the valves open is loud. When I leave my house and come home I always place the M5 in efficient mode.

AWE makes a great product.

Thanks for feedback. No one local has an AWE I can hear as well. The YouTube's videos sound fantastic. I'm debating doing secondary down pipes/ resonator delete first and see if I want more sound and if so just go w a full cat back system.

If you have stock downpipes, go with the full catback for a better sound.

If you plan on going with catless downpipes, full catback is too loud

….and I LOVE AWE!

Not a fanboy, it was the only system that I tried that didn't make my F82 sound like a hopped up lawnmower so I gave it a try with the F90 - It didn't disappoint. I also ran it with AA catted DPs for a few K miles

While I love akrapovic on this car, I think this AWE sounds the best. This was a 4.6L build I did. Has downpipes also. Going to get same setup on my cs. Probably pretty lightweight also.
