Any way to keep Sport + selected at startup?

Happy New Year to you all. I asked a few questions but also wanted to say hello. New, to me, 2020 M5 Comp fully loaded minus ceramics. Such an enjoyable car, more so than I imagined. Road feedback in steering is numb which I am getting used to but everything else....WOW

I have been watching videos and reading the manual and cannot find an answer. Any way to have the vehicle settings (steering, throttle, suspension) remain as a preset. Every time I start the car I either have to reselect my options or use either the M1 or M2 setup.

Thanks again for your help with the new guy...cf

Configure one of your M buttons with Sport+ and whatever settings you want. Push it after you get in the car, then hit the start button with your foot on the brake to turn the engine over.

You can code it to change the default startup settings but that's about it

oh, this is a sore topic. LOL. My M Buttons don't work. Crying. I have to push five buttons now, and some three times, the humanity of it, LOL. Waiting on my service date. Hope it's an easy fix. Stupid electronic stuff.....

I'd love it to default to sport, but pushing the M button (twice) is not a big deal. You push plenty of other buttons to drive the car. Seat belt click. Start engine Vroom. Turn on your favorite music choice. Turn on the massage seat. Select gear. Put the car in GO GO mode.

Here's a cool tip and will start engine with valves open and loud.

1. First configure your M2 button to all you want Sport +
2. Now whenever you get in your car press the start button once without your foot on the brake.
3. Then press the M2 button twice (confirm it)
4. Start your car

Why you need number 2.?

I just push twice the M button and then start the engine and is very loud

Doesn't need to be M2. Full-effect startup only requires Engine setup to Sport+. Can also set it with M1 or by fumbling through the Setup menus.

Is this different on LCI cars? I posted above, push M button when you get in, then start the car. Do the LCIs need you to turn the electronics on first with the start button, then start the car?

My 540 has been coded to start in Sport individual. As such you can setup individual anyway you like including all sport+ settings.

You don't. That's only if the M button that you use to toggle on Sport+ also turns off traction control, in which case you have to push it once to turn it on, and a second time to accept the warning that comes up.

I have M1 set to Sport+/Sport/Comfort with all the nannies on, so I just push it once when I get in, then start the car.

The same question has asked of various M cars since these features came into existence.

You cannot change any of the default (start-up) M mode settings on any M car via coding or otherwise. By that I mean Engine, Suspension and Steering. It simply cannot be done (unless there has been some kind of breakthrough method in the last couple of months that I haven't heard about).

It is possible via coding on other BMW cars that have the standard, overall settings of Eco, Comfort, Sport etc.

If you drive an M2/M3/M5/M6 etc, all you can do is map your preferred combination to one of the M buttons and press it.

peteinpa Did you code your own car or pay someone?

We take delivery on Jan 10 and if your profile is correct, we're pretty close to you.

Just curious. Thanks.

I think you only need to press the M button once unless you have it set to disable traction control. If turning off DSC then you need to press the button twice.
