Frozen Paint maintenance / protection

Hi All

About to pull the trigger on a frozen dark silver m5

What do I need to know about paint protection?

Will ceramic (or equivalent) protect the paint against marring or will it need a wrap?

Or will it be fine as it is?

If you want an extreme protection ==> PPF
If you clean/wash your car by hand ==> ceramic coating

Check out the link in my signature, I went with a Gtechniq ceramic coating right when the car was new because I thought it would make the cleaning process easier, and I'm very satisfied.
Also, at the beginning I thought that I'll be keeping this car for a short period of time, so PPF wasn't an interesting option because of it's high price.

For those who say that if you need a respray, the paint will never match with the rest of the car is absolutely WRONG.
For information, after a very small accident, the front bumper and right front wing were replaced and resprayed : you could never tell the difference.
You just need to have a good bodywork (BMW in my case) who knows what he's doing, and you'll be just fine!

I'll post 2-3 photos of how my car looks after 3 years of ownership and many roadtrips.

Apart from ceramic coating or PPF I heard a premium window cleaner is good for cleaning frozen paint.

I asked for a quote for a place here in Virginia that did the front of my M550i. They actually haven't even sent me an email price yet but said for Xpel Stealth full car it'd be 8-9k or so. 😬

That's ridiculously high... average is around 6k with 7-8 being high and 4-5 being low...

Does the color and finish look the same on the areas you didn't PPF compared with where you did have it done? I've never had this type of finish but thought I had seen people indicate the stealth finish makes it a bit more distinguishable if you have areas not also covered. Thx

Currently having xpel installed on entire car over frozen pb

I would not consider the paint without added protection based on my environment

Went with XPEL and used these guys - https://lumidetailing.com

Solid shop. They do good work. They were working on a few M5's at the time, a bevy of Porsches and had some pretty special exotics in the shop as well.

Hope for your sake that they didn’t use precuts like a lot of these detailing shops do.
