Today in Error Codes....

2019 m5 Base with 22,400 miles. Stock.

An intermittent groan / squeal from under the car (not the previous sound i started a thread on eons ago). Cleared itself but repeated several times. Not rotational in sound - sounded like the rear differential. NO grinding or change in driving behavior. No MIL or message showed.

This morning the car started with the following iDrive Messages:

- Continued driving possible: Chassis

- Emergency Call System Malfunction

Further investigations reveals the following DTCs via Bimmerlink:

Vehicle Dynamics Management | 4828EC Rebound Front Left Open Line

Combox Emergency Call | 031789 SIF:Remote Service

Combox Emergency Call | B7F343 Backup Battery: Before End of Life

Car Access System | D90D12 SMO:unexpected LIN slave

Motor Electronics | CD8E12 LIN, communication (generator): missing

Tailgate Function Module | 801724 Vehicle Speed greater than zero when actuated

So I recently stayed overnight in Monterey CA and as stated above woke up to a variety of error codes. These Codes were caused by rodent damage:

-- Vehicle Dynamics Management | 4828EC Rebound Front Left Open Line

-- Motor Electronics | CD8E12 LIN, communication (generator): missing

The little bastard chewed clean through the strut wiring, alternator comm wiring and bank one precat O2 wiring. $2600 at BMW rates.

The other codes were cleared by replacing the commbox battery.

-- The rear squeal hasn't come back but the rear axle dust guard ring was replaced under warranty. Many threads on this problem.

Damn. That sucks. I’m sorry man. Did you end up paying out of pocket for the whole thing?

Where exactly were you parked in Monterey?

I was in seaside parked at the Embassy Suites... away from other cars which prob made a quiet retreat for my hungry friend.

I've made a claim with statefarm but I've fronted the $2600 - at minimum $500 as deductible if the claim is approved.

I could have done all these repairs myself but at deductible cost the money doesn't equal time so...
