I dont think you know the difference between design and build quality...otherwise you would have known you cant see build quality just by looking at something

Having had an F10 and F90 I love the interior in my F90 so much.

Panel gaps, and fit and finish are part of build quality.

The panel gaps on that F10 are similar to an F150. There's more to it here and there, but it's one of the reasons that Mercedes's dashes seem flimsy and squeak, and BMW's don't. After that, fit and engineering are a big part and some of that isn't easily visualized.

Nonetheless, the fit and finish on the F90 looks better than the F10. Forget the "design". The panel gaps are tighter and the finish looks more durable and higher quality materials. That's build quality as well.

I have both, my F10 is built and makes way more power than my F90 CS.

The argument on fit and finish is dumb, the f10 came out 10 years ago, of course the interior feel is going to be significantly less refined.

That said - the F10 is the crazy hot girlfriend you want to party with on NYE, and the F90 is the refined rich bitch you take home to your mother on Christmas.

Not arguing your main point, as I agree the F90 cabin is a step up, but not all of it is an improvement. The shitty black, shiny, plastic rocker for the macro buttons for example belongs in an entry level Toyota Carolla. I get why manufacturers have ditched individual buttons, but not a one of them has figured out a more pleasing, yet functional design yet.

The F10 cabin had some good working for it aesthetically at least.

Perhaps. Some people like the "old" look and feel.

Very interesting analogy. Not sure I buy it. The F90 is more Ronda Rowsey than refined rich bitch. Looks nice and punches hard.

Do you mean the console buttons for suspension? Or the Idrive buttons?

All of it, but particularly the idrive buttons. It's hard to fault BMW specifically, since they all do it now, but I cringe whenever I have to reach down to push one of the cheap plastic buttons in the M5 or any car that uses them. Driving my wife's Macan is nice because it's an orgy of buttons, but they're all distinct, physical buttons that respond exactly as buttons should, and they feel great. That's part of the build quality for sure.

Nothing to do with old look and feel for me. I like the design language of the F90 more, I bought one. I daily it. I said that in the first post about interior quality.

That being said, the piano black plastic buttons, the numerous cracked HVAC control screens, the lower 3rd of the doors being such obvious plasticky material on the “full leather”, and this being the only car I’ve ever had with at least 3 distinct rattles, one of which the dealer acknowledges and has tried to fix twice to no avail… more than sours me on the overall build quality. Not to mention little quality of life things like dropping dimming on the passenger mirror at $125k for something that’s included on cars $90k less expensive.

Maybe it’s because I’ve spent more time with the F90. Maybe it’s that my experience with an F10 was in was a particularly good example and my F90 is particularly bad. But I didn’t get the distinct impression of “yep, they pinched a penny there” the same way I do with the F90. It just felt a lot more solid. Not everything you touch squeaked or groaned when you touch it the way the dash and door handles do on my F90. I swear it’s like the seats and steering wheel are the only things that are bolted down properly.

I have seen about 600 M5 over the past 10-years.. with that being said I own many E60 M5, a 6spd F10 M5, F06 M6gc, F90 M5cs, etc & have done many builds on f90 m5 comps and f10 m5, etc.

In regards to driving dynamics and size, the F90 seems to be a progression from the E60 M5 while the F10 is a different car all together.

The F10 has the worst steering feel of any BMW I have ever owned 😂. Interior build quality on the f10 is not very good leather quality, on most I see even the black leather wearing off on the center armrest on most cars above 50k miles. The e39 had very good thick leather and the e60 was real close to that. The f10 leather quality is atrocious, while the f90 seems to have bmw back on track with leather quality.

The m5cs in particularly, I think bmw benchmarked the e60 m5 for steering feel as it feels almost identical in comfort mode to the e60 m5 ~ which is a good thing.

The f10 m5 will go down as the black sheep of the m5 family and in my opinion should not have ever been called an m5. Total garbage car aside from its straight line acceleration which is great however it can't handle for anything so it becomes a dangerous car to drive for most which is why you see so many crashed on copart.

Anyone going from an f10 m5 to an f90 m5 will not be disappointed.

Wow come right at it. Haha. I do agree. After driving the F90 for a month I was actually wondering if something was off on my F10 suspension but others are comfirming. It was just more of a point and shoot straight type of car. Very fast long gears though which is nice sometimes. I find myself actually driving the M5 less fast a lot because I bang thru a few gears and back off. Do that in the F10 and youre doing 140.
