Very happy new guy
Recently got a 2019 M5C, Marina Bay Blue, silverstone full merino, ccb, exec package, B&W stereo, carbon fiber roof. Had 6900 miles and was pristine. Since then, Carbahn Stage 1, Dinan turbo inlet pipes, removed charcoal and regular filter, replaced with K&N. Replaced a lightly modded 2020 Shelby GT500 as my wife couldn't hear her phone at 70.
M5 is fantastic - faster to 120 than the Shelby, way more comfortable and my wife can use her phone. Have run all my cars at The Texas Mile or The Arkansas Mile and am planning to go again when available. As important, this site has has been a wealth of information and fun and I'm looking forward to being part of it. Thanks to all of you for making this place a joy to use. And yes, I'm working on pictures, especially for the Marina Bay Blue thread. |

Congrats. Would love to hear a sound clip, plus your thoughts on Carbahn...

Working on pics, but truth be known, I'm a lousy photographer, but trying.
Carbahn was a definite improvement, especially noticeable to me midrange. Installation minor hassle as only a certified installer with the right equipment can do the flash. Ended up at BMW of Houston North who were very pleasant to deal with and did the job on time and at the quoted bid. Bought the warranty with the tune. The Dinan parts were fairly easy to install, but even with them and the tune, noise did not change much. Had hoped for a more noticeable response, but should mention that I did not opt for the "extra burbles" package. My mistake. Still waiting on dates for either mile race, but will let you know. Would be great too meet anyone there that is interested. |

Missed The Texas Mile in October as my mods weren't done, but now signed up for the Arkansas Mile in April 2022. For extra fun, they have a 2km option so you can run about a quarter mile further and still have timing lights and room to shut down. Also smaller than the one in Texas so you can run more times.

Not being particularly adept at tech, I finally got some pictures into a file.
Now I'm struggling to upload them to this thread. Any hints would be appreciated. |

I believe it all depends on the dealership as well. Park Ave BMW in NJ is tune friendly. You just need to let the SA know when you check-in.

Yes, the BMW of North Houston did the install as they were the closest to me. They even had a Dinan parts display in the showroom. The dealership in Dallas that used to do it was purchased by Sewell several months ago and they shut down installations immediately. Shame, as they service manager had setup a group of M owners and had drives, meetings, etc. Warranty is good based on the Carbahn backup, and so far the car has performed seamlessly. Can't tell it
has been tuned until you use the benefits. Can't wait for April to really test the results. Two kilometers of straight line run with timing slips. Oh yeah! |
