Should I trade my Porsche GT3 MKII in for an M5 CS?

By chance, I dropped by BMW last week for a cup of coffee. Because I have a good relationship there, I immediately received a proposal for a BMW M5 CS, and a mega proposal in terms of trade-in. This made me doubt whether I should go back to BMW again. But still I doubt, the emotion and sound with the Porsche that has an IPE exhaust will be missed by me. But the trade-in price is almost too good not to, it is €55,000 above the market value if I were to trade it in somewhere. In terms of speed and potential the M5 CS is of course much stronger, but in terms of driving I don't think it comes close to the Porsche. I don't need the space etc. But I do like the power and luxury on board, which I now miss in the Porsche but which will return in the new GT3 with the new entertainment system etc.

Difficult to make a choice..

REALLY comes down to the driving experience that you desire. I had an F90. Absolutely the best 4 door saloon car on the planet. Went to a 911 Turbo S. Bone stock vs Bone stock the 911 is 0.7 seconds quicker in the 1/4. Both can be modified extensively. A 4200lb F90 Will driver bigger and feel bigger. No sports car feeling. F90 luxury is off the hook better in all areas.

Ultimate Sport vs Ultimate luxury. Good luck !

Can you actually go out and buy a new GT3 in your area ?. Here in the UK, you havent got a hope of actually buying one. That may be a consideration ?. Im just waiting to pick up my new M5, factory order, CCBs etc, and i turned down an M5CS, because i thought the M5 Competition in the right spec is enough, and the £/$ saved over the CS is incredible. Tried to buy a 992 TurboS, but the logistics of Porsche over here, and the waiting time is ridiculous, so stayed with BMW.

As much as I love my F90 Competition, I would keep the GT3 if I had to make that choice.

The M5 CS is not a radical transformation compared to the M5 and M5 Competition.

The pleasure to drive, the feel, the rawness and the long term $$$ value all go towards the GT3 in my opinion.

Yes, delivery will be then september and twice the price of the price they give me for the GT3! I think I'm going to trade it in for the M5, drive it for a year and then buy the new GT3 with its head cut off.

Today I dropped by my local Porsche dealer just to look at the cars. They had one 911 Turbo S and it had just sold the previous day to an out of state buyer for $50,000. over MSRP (almost $300,000.)

I was told the waiting time from ordering is a year and a half. That buyer did not want to wait and paid the $50k over, and sight unseen from out of state.

if this is what you want, do not get an M5. It's fast as hell, but it's numb.

My M5 carves up the suburban roads around here like a Ginsu knife. Absolutely incredible. I really do not understand the numb comments. I turn the wheel left and it darts left, turn right and boom I am right.

there is no comparison to a real sports car. None. Coming from a z06, and what I have now, the m5 simply can't compare to the feel.

I don't know T, my M5 probably may have a special handling package that makes it drive like it is on rails. Maybe an unannounced prototype BMW slipped in on a few unsuspecting lucky owners. Makes the 992 GT3 feel like a boat.

I have been enjoying my ownership for a short period and had my car sent straight from the dealer to have stage 2 but on her plus lots of other goodies.

It is a beast of a sedan... Truly shocking.

My biggest and only negative at the moment is the steering. The wheel is too thick and the steering is numb and disconnected from the road. McLaren are the best at this and Porsche are decent for electric steering.

I am a big Porsche guy and have a 992 gt3 touring coming when it releases (letting my speedster go). M5 is the best 4 door car around in my opinion. Luxury and power. The gt3 is a nimble NA sports car. Very very different and in my opinion a manual gt3 with a 4.0 is the perfect stable mate.

Unless you have kids and need back seats, gt3 for me, but not as comfortable.

Enjoy in good health bud.

However, the M5CS will hold its value better and not depreciate like how an M5 and comp will over time.

That's just a line a dealer is giving you. Unless you are a long standing good customer or have something exciting to trade, they don't want to sell you a gt3.

I know of an almost new Heritage Speedster with around 600 miles that can be had for around £280k. If you are interested in buying that, I can likely help get a 992 gt3 at list.

Speedster is unreal. The original owner is a nice guy also

Traded my 2019 911T for a 2020 M5. While 600 hp is intoxicating, and it is a very well appointed and comfortable vehicle, personally I felt it was a mistake.

In no way am I putting down BMW, but a Porsche is a Porsche.

I traded the M5 for a 2021 Cayenne GTS (owned 3 Macans, an S and 2 turbos).

The first thing I noticed was the huge difference in steering feel. M5 was numb with zero feel. The Cayenne GTS, while not as fast, is a much more pleasing vehicle to drive.

Oh, and did I mention over a thousand dollars cheaper to insure, in spite of costing 12k more to buy.
