And I feel the exact opposite Love these Comp wheels and the 20":s, hate the base 19" ones. Guess it goes down mostly to if you prefer multispokes or not.

the muffler saving couple kg isnt a big deal main benfit is sound but the ceramic brakes are quite beneficial. probably does nothinf to stopping distance but def keeps cooler and doesnt fade through with repeated abuse. also its savinf you alot of unsprung mass. if someone has the money and wants those things lemme em have it. imo it is sorta useless for a car that big and heavy that will see 99.8% of its time on the street.

The M4/M3 CS doesn't even have CCB's standard nor a titanium exhaust. And people are expecting it to be on a Competition Pack. Laughable. These are expensive options. Just from the materials to create them. For ~10k usd you are basically wishing for these parts to be free.

I don't know, personally I don't see a M5 CS coming. CS and GTS on the M3/M4 I can see because they are lighter and smaller cars and some will use it on track, but M5 is a business saloon so what else can you do on top of a competition package that will make it unique? A big wing like the GTS?

But I guess you never know with BMW these days, after all, Jag did put a big rear wing on their 4 door sport saloon and claimed a ring record for a sedan.

I agree 100%. Only wish that 19" is available as an option here in Canada. Probably rides better with the 19" as well.

He also has a wife and three kids at home and would laugh at the idea of having time to post on an online car forum. He might make it out to C&C once a year, but that's all the time he has for his love of cars now that he's no longer able to stay in tune with the brand like he could in his 20s and early 30s.

Bimmerpost land is a dream world that only exists online. Every person that has posted on this forum in the past month could quit buying BMWs and it wouldn't even register on the monthly sales report. However Mr Brand New M5 above accounts for a very large percentage of new bmw purchases because his wife leases a new X5 every 3 years (hope she doesn't get pissed off by the short life cycle of the current model all in the name of cost reduction), and he will also buy a used CPO 3 series or x3 (and purchase the maintenance plan) for each of his three kids so they can continue to live a shrivel of luxury when they go off to college. If they like their BMW experience they will do the same when they grow up.

Bottom line your typical new BMW m5 owner is not on this forum!

With regards to Porsche there are many flaws in that argument (not to mention allocation issues) the main being that if I purchase a GT3 I get a GT3 same as I did ten years ago. The same can not be said for buying a first model year M5. But there is no point in comparing a low production focused sports car to an "we will make as many as ordered" family sedan designed to cure Mr Money Bags midlife crisis during the work week. You're comparing an options package that cost sub 10% of the new purchase price to a limited production car that depending on time of purchase could easily cost 2x the GT3!

That was the XE though, which is their equivalent of the 3 series.

Ironically, however, CCB's make great street brakes. No dust and they last forever on the street. I would always put CCB's on my street cars if available...

Was wondering if you could share about how many miles do you get with CCBs from street use? What should one expect? Little google research I've done showed a few articles quoting upwards of 95,000 miles in life.

Here's some information from the chief mechanic at the BMW Performance Center West about their CCB maintenance on the M3/4,

They said they have to replace pads every 2,500 miles and rotors every 7,500.

I've driven those cars and can tell you every single mile driven is multiple threshold braking.

How is "Mr. Money Bags" whom is not an enthusiast and mainly uses his M5 to commute to work being "royally screwed" by BMW for not being able to get the competition package? He will never make use of the marginal improvement in power and handling. If anything BMW did him a favor by guiding him towards a slightly more comfortable M5 that still out runs a GT-R on his way to work.

Clearly you have an axe to grind and somehow I opened up a whole can of worms. Perhaps this thread is not the place to get into all that. You might want to find a good outlet for whatever that's bottled inside you though. Good luck.

Anyone else note that in the post above the Newton meters torque figure appears to have been reduced from 800 to 750? Based on what we were told earlier in this thread? I e no increase in torque for the competition package?
