To those that are saying that F90 M5 looks better than F10 M5:
Are you sure???

I know beauty and aesthetics are subjective but there's way too much that is going on in the rear of the new car compared to the older one.

Looks:
F10 > F90

I find that strange........but hey I respect your opinion.

It's just that majority consensus is that in terms of exterior design:
F10 > F90

If it's overall performance, then F90 > F10 for sure

But I feel that the F90 is not going to age as well as the F10 variant.

Indeed, the F90/G30 isn't as elegant as the F10, and the rear of the F90/G30 is a real mess of a design. I think it's unfortunate, but not so critical that I wouldn't buy the car.

I'm not sure I'd go out on a limb and say one looks worse than another especially without seeing the F90 in person, but my only "gripe" would be the vertical reflectors in the rear taking the design language from the M2 and X5M/X6M. I realize there's not much room up top under the tailights now with how the body swoops around but that would be my only complaint if I had one. Wheels certainly could have been better, I personally like the M550i wheels way better. Hopefully the competition package wheels will be good (and also be forged this time! Huge mistake last time making heavy cast wheels for the comp package, big time error there by BMW trying to slip one past us).

I'm sure they will be cast again. Lame, I know, but I've come to expect less and less these days from ///M. So far my favorite car in their entire line up is the M760i, even though it's not a bonafide M car. I am looking forward to the new M340i though.

I think you should change your name to RIPM5. Fits the trend better

These pictures make me question how people could say the F10 looks better. Send me the F 90 looks better in every way, more aggressive and meaner

Your opinion is respected...........but the general consensus so far (even on BMW fansites like this) is that the rear-end design of the F90 looks like a mess and too much is going on.

F10 rear design is much cleaner hands-down

^^^
In this example
Right picture looks better than left picture (and many here would agree)

IMO F90 looks amazing inside out. Can't wait for the competition package to come out. I've owed 3 F10's. 2 M5's and a 550i. F90 is just much better looking.

As an F10 M5 owner I think the new car looks better in most ways except the wheels.

It seems that there is a trend:

A lot going on means "a busy mess" to some folks, but "aggressive" to others.

Neat and clean means "elegant and timeless" to some folks, but "bland and boring" to others.

There's really no winning. I, personally, think the new car's design is a nice evolution from the outgoing model. Sorry for the guys who don't like it!

This is because there are currently way more F10 M5 owners than F90 M5 owners

This was more common when the F82 came out and was compared to the e92 and ppl couldn't see that much of a difference in the flared fenders etc from the regular 4 series.

This is still a point of discussion to many when comparing to the F80 sedan which was universally regarded as better design than the E90 sedan.

I think the same is happening here with the m550 and the m5 not being aggressive enough overall comparatively. The F10 while understated was still much more aggressive compared to the regular 5 series even with M pkg.
