Can't be final M steering wheel. I see no M1/2 buttons nor the right stitching
Also don't expect the red button to stay, feels more like "hit this in case x happens"

EDIT: nvm, I see the right colors stitching now on a better display

The red ignition button looks out of place for sure. Like an auto-part store "upgrade."

Look at the third picture. It's the button above the parking sensor button. It has an image of dual exhaust tips on it.

Really have to agree. It looks unfinished.

Upon closer inspection, it looks to me that we will be able to change the shift speed of the transmission via the rocker buttons located at the top of the shifter with our thumbs. Click on up arrow to increase shift speed and down arrow to decrease shift speed. At least they are keeping this feature of the DCT with this Auto Transmission.

It also appears that there is no "P" Button like a regular Automatic Transmission shifter has. I say this is a good thing. I wouldn't want an Auto Transmission that looks too much like the same transmission you get in a 330i.

Finally, an exhaust button to control the exhaust flaps. Praise the Lord! I just hope that when the flaps are open it actually sounds aggressive.

However, it is disappointing to see that there will be no significant difference in center console button location and design between an F90 M5 and say a 530i, other than the additional buttons for the exhaust flaps for the F90 M5. This is terrible. At least in the F10 the base of the shifter lever was a unique and bespoke design just for the M5. Little things like that make an ///M feel like an ///M over the base model.

Overall, it is a very interesting shifter lever design and I am very happy to at least see ///M Division do something different with that for the next M5. I was disappointed when the F10 M5 used the exact same shift knob as the E60 M5. For me, different is always better. Many people won't agree with me though.

Note below a picture of a standard BMW 530i lower center console design. The only difference between a 530i and an M5 will be the addition of the exhaust flap button and the shifter lever. I would have hoped, no expected, for that entire area where all of the buttons are located and the shifter level and parking brake switch to be a completely different design for the F90 M5. This plays exactly into my other disappointments with the engine being the same as from the F10 M5 and other things. Why is ///M Division being so lazy? All of these cost saving measures are turning me off to the brand.

The M buttons are placed in front of the flappy paddles on the steering, see them here

Hopefully this car just doesn't have the adaptive cruise rather than it not being an option at all. Otherwise they have moved the M1 / M2 buttons off the steering wheel and left it with blanks where they used to be...

It must be an option otherwise that's just completely stupid if you ask me.

Looks like the DriveLogic buttons are on top of the shifter now. Interesting place to put it.

Can we talk about how somebody took pics of a largely unmasked interior and isn't showing us the seats? C'mon we know you've got the pics...

For me, BMW interiors have always weighted on the side of utilitarian/driver focused. Obviously much more tolerable and elevated in the higher end cars with nice stitching and materials. But I've never held the interiors in high regard in terms of luxury or pureness of design. This takes the cake though...this interior looks supremely over-wrought and ostentatious in every way for a luxury performance car. That center stack surround is bulbous and distracting and the new angled circuit-line motif just feels somehow forced and 90s to me. And that shifter looks straight out of ToysRus from the bargain basement bin. Buuut, what do i know?

Agree

Room for all extra buttons.

I wish BMW would stop adding all those driving assist aids as I turn them all off.

Are we all so dumb due to needing these aids.

If that is the actual park button it looks like it would be really awkward to press on the bottom of the stalk they should be put it on the top

Awkward how? It's not a Selector Interlock in the traditional sense.
