Another interesting tid bit....MotorTrend had two ZR1’s. The one with OEM street radials went 11.2 Cup 2’s went 10.8 On a prepped dragstrip. M5 is an OVERACHIEVER !!!! |

That driver car list with the 3 blanks for 1,2,3 is MotorTrends preference,,,,,,not really based on performance. |

Ah, the pic was of the final results. I thought it was of fastest lap times. I'm getting confused between the two articles (Motor Trend and Car and Driver).

You met him at the track years ago. And you were able to deduce all of these character issues from that meeting? You are also stating he is a has-been. He currently has the production car record - multiple times - since he joined MT. I am always interested to hear factual info and data - but I am not hearing it here. And you stating professional race car driver level information - are you/have you ever been a professional race car driver?

Yes he drives better than many journalists, but they write better. Yes he holds some records but no he was never in the truly big leagues of racing and no he hasn’t had a good, consistent ride in years (maybe teams/sponsors know him like I do, although I’ve never said anything to them). The last few teams he was with were unimpressive, results-wise, as was he. Past his prime by several years. That is my opinion. |

Pobst drove the 720 and Performante poorly, they both could have done better time wise in this event even on the stock tires they ran with. I agree he better than average but he has definitely lost a step.

I would love to see Bill Auberlen behind the wheel in these tests. He's remarkably fast quickly no matter the car (M2 or Z4 GTLM. even on a strange track).
He was a guest at an M track day at the BMW Perf Center. We were doing high 24s, low 25s on a damp track with M2s. He did 21.1 on his first (and only) lap, and it was smooooth! The dry track record for the instructors who run it all the time is high 20s. I've also ridden with him in the Z4 GTLM at NOLA (not a commonly run track) and watched him at Pitt Race and Schenley Park (Pittsburgh). He is brutally fast when just giving rides.
