The little things that excite you in your new M5...

This is my first M5, so I have nothing to compare it to;but one thing is for sure-it is exhilarating. Nothing gets me more excited than when I pull up to a light and I’m the first at the line. Which means I get to experience 600+hp at its finest. I thought it would be cool to start my first thread for all of us to discuss the little things that excite us while driving this piece of awesomeness.

In manual shift mode and cruising in a high-gear, push the accelerator through the detent (resistance point) and then pull the downshift (left) paddle and the car identifies the lowest possible gear and shifts straight into it--I LOVE that feature... and it's unique to BMW M cars.

PS: I know this car and other cars with auto transmissions do this in auto-mode but BMW ensures manual mode means manual--and then they add this little gem back... ahhh, this all contributes to engineering the best driver's car.

A little thing that excites me is the Competition package exhaust when driving and downshifting in Sports Plus mode. It's intoxicating.

Ive had cars constantly trying to pull with me in my Mas (Ghibli). I would usually get caught up in the challenge and have done some pretty stupid and unsafe things. I don't know if the M5 has a sleeper effect or it just has crazy respect on the road but I don't get provoked as often. Its calmed things down and its a welcome change!!

My favourite thing is the M1 and M2 buttons. I can just rearrange them to my liking and drive 99% of the time in those settings. My ex M6 had this too, so it is not that special, but it is epic.

The ability to launch with zero concerns in the wet. The grip is so strong and the tq split is amazing to keep the power where its needed going in to turns and coming out. A 4400 lb car than turn!!!

Launching the car at a red light with 3 passengers in the car, and inevitably 2 of them absolutely lose their minds having never been in a vehicle that does under a 3 second 0-60, and even more shocked that it just happened in a BMW "5 Series."

Usually it's only 2 people losing their minds, because my wife is usually up front and she knows it's coming now anytime we have people with us that haven't been in my car before. She subtly gets the camera out to film their reactions.

So this. My wife is used to it by now. My biggest fans are my little daughters who always want me to hit it at the light. Anybody new in the car immediately yells out a wooooooah. Their faces are a mixture of amazement and fear at the same time. And to be able to stop on a dime with a car this heavy is astonishing.

The 'not again' stare that my wife gives me when I press the M2 button the second time to confirm 'DSC Off,' Sport Plus, Sport, Sport Plus and S3.

Downshifting at about 2500rpm to hear that beautiful exhaust burble.

Waze in carplay (although not unique to the M5)

Cold start in the morning. Hit the M2 button (sports plus) and the sound of the engine coming on in the garage is the only way to start the day.

Not really exciting but cool that when you pop the trunk from the inside of the car by pushing the trunk button you can actually close it by pulling and holding the same button. There will be a beep beep sound similar to a backing truck.

The key needs to stay inside the car for this to work.

Code it and you only need to press it again to have the trunk closed with that beeping sound as an option to enable or not.

But from my experience working on the F90 M5, unlike the F10 M5, this F90 M5 just somewhat more noticeable in a quick glance.
Somehow F90 M5 to G30 5-series looks more chunky and beefy than F10 M5 to the regular F10.

It's a total sleeper...almost too much, they took away a bit too much of the aggressive look for me

I agree. For some reason this one is getting more attention and people want to ride/drive it more so than when I had my F10, which hardly got any comments.

I agree it could've had a more aggressive look but it was the total package that won me over.
