I've had the opportunity to take a new M5 to the track and once broken in they sound great stock, nothing wrong with the sound in my opinion. I'd still change it personally, but again everyone had different tastes. That being said...the Akrapovic sounds amazing! |

I wouldn't want the car much louder than this, because I work in a large office building. We all park in the parking garage, and I don't really want people I work with to hear me coming from a mile away. A lot of non-car enthusiasts hate loud exhaust noise, and while I personally love it, I know there are people I work with that would think less of me for having a super loud exhaust.
Also, I'm sure a lot of people buying M5s get them for practicality. So, that often means driving the family around. Do you not believe that anyone would want to be able to have the exhaust on a quieter mode to not wake their baby that finally stopped crying and fell asleep in the backseat? The M5 is inherently a compromise car. The point where performance and practicality meet. If you want something fully aggressive, why not just get a true 2-door sports car? |

I can understand the sound factor, then M should have a variable valve that we can control. |

Main reason I pulled the trigger was because of it’s discreteness. I can’t possibly pull up to see/pick up my client in an E63 and not look like a cock with it’s extreme styling and sound. Already have to de-badge and back the car in everytime I go for meeting. Also agree on Akra sounding pretty osum. Would like to hear it with the valve closed if possible? |

I stopped caring about the comments about my "expensive" (335i) BMW when I noticed how many were coming from people driving $60k pickup trucks and SUVs.
