Prepare to run out of the thread for being logical in 3-2-1 lol . Correcting a turbo car that is proven to self correct is one of the reasons we see so many inflated dynos in the past 5 years . Great article in Sport Auto a couple years back using a MAHA dyno and a 991 Turbo S . Basically without the incorrect corrections 3 different MAHA dynos showed it was within 5 hp of factory crank claims . They used several other turbo cars as well . The drag strip will not lie, when people are trapping 125-26 mph with "625 whp " maybe they will get it .

This number looks too high for my opinion .... And it’s mean around 685 hp at the engine Crazy underrating... There is a DynoJet run by DME tuning they got 569 on rwd and 593 on AWD Sounds more realistic to me |

Why does one sound more realistic than the other ? Each dyno reported what it measured.

660 HP at the crank is "just" 150HP per Liter, which is not at all unrealistic. Bone stock, it probably is already making a bit more than that on a good day with 93 octane fuel.
Just to put things into perspectives here, a stock F90 M5 can out drag a stock GT-R and the new NSX in the 1/4 mile while weighting 300-400lbs more. |

Sounds to me the IND Dyno was really at the crank and not whp ? how could there be such difference? other dynos are also showing <550whp ?

1. Retarder style dyno’s generally report lower rwhp numbers vs inertia style dyno’s. 2. Atmospheric conditions will vary the rwhp numbers even on the SAME DYNO EVEN IF CORRECTED TO SAE STANDARDS. 3. Some dyno’s, same brand, measure higher or lower numbers than others. 4. Dyno software Cal’s can cause delta’s depending on who has the latest, etc. 5. Re: number 2. Some folks are adamant that SAE equalizes everything. It does not. It does a good job equalizing atmosphere to atmosphere, but it cannot equalize a turbo car in 40F air making max timing on pump 93 vs the same car in 90F air pulling 4 degrees of timing due to the temp. Seen that many times. 6. Some operators cheat to make customers happy. Very easy to do. Very. Some just use software equalizers to get “Dynojet” or better numbers for the same reason. Dyno’s are a great tool used properly. Heat soak, hero runs, etc etc skew numbers. BMW rates the M5 at 600rwhp. Probably based on SAE of 1.0 correction standards. Probably a 70F cell temp on 93. Dyno it at 40F on an inertia Dyno and you’ll probably make a little bit more. Less at 90F. Less with a retarder Dyno like DynoDynamics at any temp. I don’t even look at the rwhp to engine hp conversion numbers. Both dyno’s I owned would do it. Never used it. Too much “voodoo “ “for me”. |

Here is another inertia dyno graph to compare to the IND inertia dyno graph. Two different dyno’s, two different states. The lowest number is pure stock.
