It is the morning after the day before, so how many of you went over-board and who was not in the mood?

Well I hope that no-one else had the food poisoning that the miswah and me had yesterday...
Unbelievable. Woke up feeling jaded, like hung over, but I only had a few glasses of red so couldn't understand it. Meanwhile miswah had been praying to the great white god all morning apparently... She just got progressivly worse and was competely delerious by about 12pm. Well half an hour later it was my turn.... Never known ANYTHING like it ! Projectile vomit EVERYWHERE ! I then fell into a sort of delerious state too, very wierd feeling btw!, all my muscles locked up and it was painful to move, made it difficult to run to the toilet ! Then got bedridden too and have literally just woken up 24 hours later... Holy shit ! SJ |

can't really work out where we got it...
Had chrimbo dinner with 6 people. 4 of which were very ill boxing day - but all 6 ate the same stuff ? However the 4 who were ill DID eat loads of seafood the evening before, but it would seem to be too long before the symtoms manifested themselves ? SJ |

Like you say, traditional food poisoning would normally occur sooner than that. E coli can develop upto 3 days after the infected food has been consumed, although if you had that, you wouldn't be on the forum - more likely in hospital! A friend had it and he was SERIOUSLY ill.
Strange one James, but I suppose if you've 'evacuated' the bugger out then everything should hopefully be OK. |

The incubation time for food-borne bacterial & viral infections (time from eating till 'puking') can vary from hours to, for some infections, weeks. It depends on the type & source of food, harvesting, storage conditions, method of preparation & also on the current health & sensitivity of the individual. Have a look at this, although I'm not suggesting it is the cause, ok. "Calicivirus, or Norwalk-like virus is an extremely common cause of foodborne illness, though it is rarely diagnosed, because the laboratory test is not widely available. It causes an acute gastrointestinal illness, usually with more vomiting than diarrhoea, that resolves within two days. Unlike many foodborne pathogens that have animal reservoirs, it is believed that Norwalk-like viruses spread primarily from one infected person to another. Infected kitchen workers can contaminate a salad or sandwich as they prepare it, if they have the virus on their hands. Infected fishermen have contaminated oysters as they harvested them." So, get well soon & make sure you don't eat any dodgy jellied eels, unless it's from Tony, off course. Viv |
