Yes . But one thing is for sure : Sainz was in panic , screamed and he waved with his arm for help..

Marshal doesn't even have his gloves on! It's hard to put out a fire with bare hands. It's what I used to tell students on track who drove in a driver's suit but without gloves..

Looks like some safety protocols need to be revised.

That’s a tough one, and imo they did the right thing by chocking the wheel first.
If you re watch it, you can see Sainz climbing out of the car, stopping, and getting back in to apply the brakes. Obviously this was done because he stopped the car on the hill, and there is no EBrake on an F1 car to hold it in position. If you watch, you can see the car rolling backwards every time he goes to get out.(At least 2x iirc, could be 3…not sure.) If he got out of the car with it rolling, it would have rolled back down the hill into the track, like a bomb. Most likely the car would have been completely destroyed by the fire and whatever it hit.
I say he made the right decision based on the fact Sainz was unharmed, and the car was salvaged.

Just my opinion

I'm not sure but it looks like the marshall throws his body weight on the tire , to stop the car from rolling further backwards

Yeah, he does that to get the chock to hold, because it slid when he first put it down.

The Sainz incident also demonstrates the other beneficial function of the halo: it helps drivers to pull/extract themselves quickly out of the car. Let's not forget that F1 drivers "lie", rather than "sit", inside their cars.

As well as putting weight on the tyre I think he's forcing the steering too so that the car turns into the armco.

Another good race today, this has been a great season thus far! I was surprised by the pace of the Ferraris, I thought Max was going to have a fairly easy go of it today. Shows what I know!

Hope the competitive racing continues!

I think it was simply that the marshall had to act fast and there was no time to remove the gloves which were tied to his wrist and put them on.
Overall he did a good job with the onus on stopping the car so that Sainz wouldn't fall over back onto the car if it would have rolled back more with him alighting from it.

The 1-75 also had a smaller rear wing to reduce drag on the straights which further reduced it's weight but they have a big problem with PU reliability and Jos said with everything he was happy with Max's second and a win was possible if LEC's throttle sensor problem had started earlier.

if almost all drivers getting penalty or warning for limits.. it doesnt mean drivers are wrong.. they should fix it somehow maybe making the outer part of the curbs a bit higher or something or making the exit wider where they were getting penalties.. or simply making the deeper part grass.. it was so ridiculous to see a lot of warnings and penalties..

and gosh how much Mercs are slow on the straights really.. looks like 2 car length on each straight in A1..thats too much to compensate..

felt so bad for Sainz that it was clear he d be 2nd at least.. this helped Max to collect more points..

and Leclerc.. Ferrari almost found a new way to ruin his victory but he nailed it by overtaking Max 3 times.. superb job from Charles!

A circuit is a circuit and its limits are imaginary walls. If there is a real wall right next to a track limit line, a severe penalty is immediately served in kind: the driver crashes into the wall. Self-inflicted.

We need more gravel pits, grass and foam obstacles to stop the repeated speed gaining abuse by all drivers. The penalties should even be tightened to enforce drivers to stay on the circuit. The rule is legitimate - it's the drivers who repeatedly abuse the rules. The black and white diagonal flag should be shown after a 2nd, instead of a 4th, noted violation (more particularly if there is no justification for a track limits violation, to be distinguished from being forced off-track by a competitor).

For the moment it's like tennis: only if the ball is fully beyond the line, it's out. If the ball still touches the line for a fraction, it is still "in". In F1, as long as 1 wheel touches even the outside part of the line, it's admitted. Not as strict as in football: if a part of the ball passes your goal line, you take a goal. Hit the armcos in for example Monaco, and your race risks to be over or substantially compromised. As said, stewards need not imposing a penalty for this - the armco will do that at once.

You got to 'draw the line' somewhere. Alike the speed limit in the pitlane imposed for safety reasons: 80 km/h is 80 km/h. Drive faster and you'll get a penalty. All drivers hypothetically speeding in the pitlane, would not per se mean that the safety rule should be revised - drivers should adapt to the safety rule, rather than the other way around.

Example of repeated speed gaining abuse at a time when track limits violations were not as enforced as nowadays:

If a driver disregards track limits during a lap, that lap time will be deleted because considered gaining an unfair advantage by going off the track.

If track limits are violated on the final corner of a track, not only will that lap time be deleted, but the lap time of the next lap will also not count, as going wide on the final corner is seen to give drivers an advantage (extra speed) for their next lap.

If drivers disregard track limits four times during an F1 race, they will be shown a black and white diagonally split flag (so nothing happens during violations #1, #2 and #3 - but upon violation #4 the B/W flag is shown). Violation #5 implies a 5-second time penalty and likely a penalty point. Violation #6: bad idea.

And remember: 12 points available over a 12-month period. Lose those = a race ban for the next event.

News just in from Binotto is that LEC's throttle problem was mechanical rather than electrical and he could say no more on that.
So it was likely a simple sticking throttle pedal that needed WD40 or a broken return spring rather than something more technical according to Mattia.

Probably is it made from titanium because the Ferrari is a extreme lightweight car.
Same for MAX's DRS wing , the wing was so thin that it failed more than once .

And currently the RB18 is still 5 KG too heavy vs the Ferrari ...

- 5KG = 0.3 sec. faster

I just read that all the Ferrari PU's return to Maranello for further investigation..
