Lift the plastic cover that's part of the dust boot for the shock tower and inspect for stress marks, in particular the 6 o clock area if you were standing along side the fender. Ill only post details if I see a 3rd victim. Edit; if you happen to discover something, feel free to PM me first . |

In the past, some BMW have suffered deformed /such as mushrooming) or failing (such as stress cracks and cracks) in the strut towers and even the rear shock tower sheet metal. I am most familiar with this on the E36 and don’t know whether it is an issue on any other models. Obviously stiffer springs increase the stress on the sheet metal tower tops.

I’m now on KW V4’s but was on the HR 550’s for several years (2 F90 M5’s) with zero issues.

Thank you very much for the quick response! Your offset/sizing was not factory was it? I am not flush or aggressive, but I am slightly further out compared to OEM. Pretty much running Titan7 Specs from their wheels. (different brand though)

If there is banging on bumps from just the passenger side, there is a problem. It’s not that Eibach springs are bad and H&R springs for a different BMW, the 550xi, would be better. I’d find the problem and fix it. Then decide if you want lower or stiffer or adjustable springs.
I have a slight groan and occasional knock or bump at very low speeds since installing front monoballs and lowering springs. Not sure which it is related to. The groan sounds rubbery like upper strut bearings. The knock or bump sounds a bit like the rod ends. CD drives and handles and aligns fine, but I would like to find the issue at some point. Apparently some other BMW have had tie rod issues that give a bump or knock at low speed, but I have not read of this yet for the F90. |

I had similar noise after installing springs, front passenger as well. I ended up getting the struts replaced and noise is gone.

Dealership could not confirm it was blown in my case. The tech advised to start with replacing the strut and if noise continues, explore other potential causes. I ended up replacing both front struts and swapped from h&r m550 springs to kw has. That fixed it for me.
