I'm so sorry dude😔 what an imbecile.. Did you get him/her to stop/get his info? This is so aggravating. People absolutely have zero common sense/consideration for others. I wonder where he/she was in such a rush. I bet that it was so important that he/she had to take the chances and swipe a quarter million dollar car..

Yeah I honked at him numerous times to make sure to let him know he hit me , and then I got out and went up to his window while at the light and told him to pull over. He was cordial enough and pulled into a parking lot and we exchanged info. I have no doubt it will be covered 100% by his insurance but its just the fact that now this will be on the cars record + it likely won't be replaced with an OEM part. The guy drives a 2018 Range Roger, so way bigger than an M5 and guess what? There's no damage to his car. Not a scratch. At first he was like, I don't think I hit you. Except my whole car shook. Idiot. I'm waiting for my appraiser to call me and figure it out from here. |

Sucks man but it appears the bumper is fine structurally and probably just needs to be re-painted. Still sucks but could have probably been a lot worse.

There's a gouge in the bumper as you can see in one of the pics, do you think they can still repaint it? Obviously I'd rather not have to replace the bumper since I won't get an OEM one, so hopefully that's doable. |

I think the gouge can be filled and sanded and then the entire bumper can be painted. It's a matted finish so be careful who you take it to. Good luck brother!

Bad luck brother, better shake off the evil eye somebody gave you! Haters everywhere!
As far as the bodywork, that's a tough one, frozen paint is difficult…blending part is gonna be a PITA. If it were up to me I'd have the entire bumper resprayed and send the other guys insurance the bill. See where your dealer gets their cars redone, maybe they'll have some solutions. If you don't trust them, I'm sure if you opened a thread here you'd get some good responses. Wish you the best of luck.

I am taking it somewhere my BMW guy recommended so I trust they'll do a good job. Yes, from the estimate I received, they're gonna respray the whole bumper. So hopefully it's 100%. |

1. I'm not certain, but someone once told me repainting just the plastic bumper cover does not get reported to carfax. They get scratched all the time and a respray should not have a material impact to the cars value like an accident would. I'd ask the body shop you're using. 2. Demand it be an OEM part. He damaged your car doing something stupid. It's a brand new car with 1,000 miles, why should you have to accept non-OEM parts. If it was your insurance for something you did, then maybe yeah that would be the case. But I'd be very firm on this. Had a similar thing happen way back when and the woman's insurance company tried to get me to accept cheaper non-OEM parts but I stuck to my guns and demanded OEM. They finally caved. I think I recall you have to sign paperwork at the end saying the work is done and you won't pursue any other damages - just refuse to sign.

To comment on your OEM comment, yes you are 100% right and this is what I have been doing since my first phone call this morning. My insurance, wouldn't budge on their policy at least during the first phone call. The guy said that if there are aftermarket parts and they are cheaper, likely this is what would be used. He said I'm welcome to pay out of pocket for any difference if a new bumper is required, then I can go after the other guy for payment but if his insurance (Gieco) refuses to pay for it, then I'm on the hook. At that point it would be up to me to pursue it through some other legal means. However, when my appraiser called me today he flat out said since the car is so new with <1000 miles, do not worry, if any parts are required he will approve them to be OEM and NOT aftermarket. So this put me at ease and I am very happy to hear that. So far after sending pics to the body shop and my insurance everything is coming up to just be a repair+respray. I'm hoping that's all it is as I'm sure it will look great when done as I trust the guy who recommended the place for me to go. |

i would highly suggest NOT to replace that bumper. There is zero reason to. You risk a bigger chance of a paint mismatch. I wont go back and forth arguing in here with folks who have zero idea how this works, but PM and i'll gladly answer any questions.
That bumper is 100% repairable. |

Goddamn. Sorry for your luck. I generally have pretty shitty luck too, I’ll be sure to let you know when someone hits mine so you don’t feel alone.
My mint F10 M5 just got keyed in a parking garage by a valet driver passing through. On camera. Entire car had to be painted as he hit every single panel. People are hoecakes! |

It's probably little consolation, but this has no structural impact on the car and its driving dynamics. Should still be a big pull in the collectors' market down the road.

for you guyys with the frozen paint, and did PPF (but didn't do the entire car) were you able to see a difference in gloss level between the non ppf vs PPF?
CS is on the way, i'm doing ppf on front clip, and ceramic on the entire car. Dont want to invest too much, as i dont know if i'm keeping. |
