How to fix the squealing brakes?

Apologies if that's already been addressed here... you are welcome to refer me to another thread.

2020 M5 Competition. Completely stock. Barely 10,000 miles on the clock. This problem appeared about 3,000 miles ago. These are the standard steel brakes BTW, not Carbon Ceramics.

When I drive the first mile or so after starting the care, the brakes are silent as they should be. After a mile or so, the brakes squeal like pigs being slaughtered, but only in slow traffic stops. if I press harder, there very little or no noise, but obviously when driving in town, not on a track, full power stops are a big no-no at traffic lights. Of course BMW says it's normal. Well... I've owned three M3s and this M5 and this is the only one that's had this problem. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

See post #7 by Bimmer6 in the first link, it gives instructions to bed the break pads to reduce/eliminate the squealing.

I wouldn't F90 M5 without CCBs.

For sure, if you are in the market now for an M5 be sure to check the box for Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

Agreed but my CCBs are right in line with what OP is saying about his steel brakes. It's embarrassing honestly and some hard braking only temporarily stops the noise for me. BMW says it's completely normal.

Anyone tried applying anti squeal brake paste on all surfaces where the pad touches the caliper? remembering not to get any on the friction material or disc of course. That's what I would do first.
My steels squeal when I've not been heavy enough on them but they don't bother me at all.

small price to pay for spending less time cleaning wheels my friend. I'll never own another car w/o carbons.

Just a lil over 12K and the slow braking squeal has gotten very much louder. Was faint up until now. Quite a bit annoying. 130K car with squealing at slow braking should not be considered normal imo.

it'll never fully go away no matter what you do. Some people are just lucky enough to not have it. So many threads all over the forum covering this. Google for these things is a much better search tool than inside the website/app.

I replaced my front pads with Porterfield pads, and thankfully have never had any squeaks from the car. I did apply plenty of red anti-squeak paste to the contact points, so can't say if it was the pads or the paste that made the difference.

Every performance car I've owned with cross drilled rotors squealed. I tried bedding the breaks etc but could never get it to go away. Just something I had to live with embarassing as it is.
