Here is a current offer on the table for a loaded 2018 M5, not a good deal I want this down in the $1300-$1400/month range. This is for a 3 year/10K lease:

MSRP: $119,875
Vehicle Selling Price: $110,739 (Includes $3K lease/loyalty credit)
Cap Reduction: $1723 (this is exact payoff amount of my current M4 lease)
Money Factor: .00206 (they indicated this was a "mistake" and are correcting it to .00182 but payment below is at .00206)
License/Title: $1932 (yeah expensive in AZ)
Tire/VTR Fee: $21.75
Acq Fee: $925.00
Doc Fee: $499
Tax On Collected Items: $368.47
Monthly Payment: $1534.37
Total Drive Off: $7,004.83

I still have two payments left on my M4, which I didn't expect them to necessarily absorb so at least it's transparent I'm paying that out of pocket myself. I told them if they could take the car cost down to $106,000 we have something more to talk about - that would take the payment without MSD's down to around $1350. This is the only 2018 left in the state of AZ.

I haven't heard back from the dealer above yet. In the meantime, a different offer for a 2018 M5 via an out of state dealer. I much prefer the color on this one than the local M5. What I can't figure out is the math on this, doesn't seem to add up when I plug in the numbers on leasehackr, is tax on a lease dealt with differently in California than AZ?

MSRP: $121,465
Selling Price: $111,480 (8% discount)
Sales Tax Estimate: $8648.23
Doc Fee: $80
Tire/Battery Fee: $7
Smog Allotment Fee: $20
Vehicle Title/Registration: $984 (his estimate)
Electronic Filing: $20
Fiat Add/County Fee: $7
Balance Due: $121,256.23
Money Factor: .00222 (1% over buy rate!)
Cash Due at Sign: $6000
3 Year/30K mile lease payment: $1399

What I am not getting is the CA indicated that the total discount on the vehicle is the 8% above PLUS the $3K in incentives for $12,985 off the vehicle. I asked about the $6K cash down and he indicated that is for the drive off but first payment plus fees is around $2500, where is the rest of the $3500 at??

The drive off cash I don't get and the MF mark up is crazy. What am I missing here, is there a better calculator I should use out there?

Well the 2018 M5 in AZ sold, so the prior post on that deal is done. Don't know what they paid for it but the deal wasn't worth pulling the trigger on.

However, I spoke to the dealer below in California and they seem motivated to work something out and take delivery by end of month. I confirmed that $3K of the drive off was a cap reduction. I am thinking if they can eliminate the cap reduction reduce the car price by that amount and take the MF down to .00182 I would probably do this.

I asked about vehicle registration and what they told me is they would register in CA with my home address in AZ and the California plates would ship to me. I could then either re-register in AZ or drive the car for a year and then register in AZ. He felt that was the easiest thing to do dealing with people who live out of state. Any thoughts on this for people who have bought out of state and then needed to register the vehicle again?

I know states vary and I think I've heard that about CA, but every time I've purchased out of state, they have never had me register in the state of purchase if I'm a Texas resident. They either collect the tax and register it for me, or just collect the sales price and allow me to register it myself and pay taxes at the DMV.

I buy almost all my cars out of state - from a dealer in Ohio, I live in NJ and previously in NY. They were always able to register in the state I live in. I've bought cars in NY since I moved to NJ and they also registered the car for me in NJ. It does seem to take a couple weeks longer than from in state dealers but never exceeded the 30 day temp tags.

I am not sure how they would register your car in CA without an address there.

The only thing was that I had to get the state inspection done myself which isn't a big deal.

Here is where I'm at this morning, I'm torn on what to do they barely budged off of what they had before reducing the payment by $18. They have agreed to give me a temp tag so I can just register directly in AZ after getting the car home so that's better. The MF markup they have no desire to change which to me is nuts. The numbers:

MSRP: $121,465
Selling Price: $111 000(8% discount)
Money Factor: .00222 (1% over buy rate!)
Cash Due at Sign: $3000 cap reduction
3 Year/30K mile lease payment: $1382 (includes 7.75% tax)

I also have to pay off my M4 lease which is another $1700. I tried to get them to take it in trade and wipe the slate clean there but they want no part of it. I know I'd spend that $1700 if I still had the car but was hoping they could do something on trade or reduce the cap reduction and take that $1700 off the vehicle price. So the above is better by quite a bit than what I had in AZ but still not as good as what I have seen posted here..

Thoughts?

Yeah it is a 2018, can someone confirm these numbers for me and just double check this math. I'd say the way they are showing me this info seems to adjust about every 2-3 emails and I still wonder if this is above board. They have line items with

Agree value: $107,480
Then below it is gross capital cost of $108,839.49
Then - $3K lease credit
Then Adjusted capital cost of $105,839

This is what the numbers look to be:
MSRP: $121,465
Sales Price: $107,480
MF: .00222
Drive Off: $3K - first payment and misc fees. No additional cap reduction
Sales Tax: 7.78%
Monthly Payment: $1382

What I also found out today is this M5 has 250 miles on it. It was taken down to a golf tournament and put on display and test driven a few times at the dealership. I am glad I asked as if I had arrived and not know that I would have been pretty unhappy not knowing what I was getting into.

As it stands above, the drive off is good, vehicle discount good, MF is really bad and remains something they will not change based on the amount off the vehicle.

I have about 5 mo left on my F80 lease. I have received fliers from dealer to help me into a '18 F80 but would they do the same for F90?
Although I would love to get an allocation and special order a F90 like I did for my F80, but the current lease rate for '19 F90 comp is absurd.

Should I be approaching CA now to get a '18 before they are gone? I see that sale price for 18's seems to be about 7-8% off MSRP and I am not sure that this will be the same for '19s. Also not sure if residuals in 3-4 mo for 19's will still be like they are now.

BMW is going to make you ride out your lease on Ms. If you had a month left the dealer might be willing to pay a month to get you in. Pull aheads do not include M models sadly.

With a nice discount and %61 residual, I don't think leasing a 2018 is that much of a rip off.

I feel like I got a good deal on the exact car I would have built for myself - I probably would not have done all the port installed carbon fiber adds in the build but the discount helps and I will enjoy them. MF was marked up but 14.4% off the car was hard to pass up. MF at the buy rate was not possible with the 5 dealers we worked with. It was either 8-10% and maybe base MF or 13-14% and MF higher.

MSRP: $124,870
Sales Price: $106,885
MF: .00222
Sales Tax: 7.8%
Drive Off: $3,723 (1st payment + fees, AZ vehicle registration is high)
Monthly Payment: $1378

Packages: Executive, Driving Assistance Plus
Options: 20" wheels, Bowers audio
Accessories: Black kidney grills, carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rear spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuser, lower blades.

I left around $80 on the table by not getting the base MF. Tried every possible route but the dealers wouldn't budge. Getting 10% off seemed pretty doable with most dealers. I'm happy with where I ended up, it's nice to have this done as it has been a grind the last 3-4 days.

Pictures attached are from the dealer. I'll post more after I pick it up next Wednesday.

Congratulations. This seems like a great deal given the current BMWFS strategy on the M5s.
