What is not clear is whether I will be able to code everything with the full version of Bimmercode? My BMW software is up to date.
So if I miss :
2) Add HELC to HO-WORT 3) Code BDC module
and Just doing this in bimmercode:

BL_L_CCM: ccm_346 [01 5A]
BL_L_IS_LED: nicht_aktiv, default [00]
BL_L_MIN_PWM: 5% [05]
BL_L_WARMUEBERWACHUNG: nicht_aktiv [00]

BL_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG: nicht_aktiv [00]
Can someone confirm who did this?
Sorry, but I've never coded, but it doesn't seem like a very complicated process. Just need to understand everything
Just do it and worst case scenario is that you can reverse your coding changes. The coding is only for the boot/trunk lid lights anyway, so even if it doesn't work you can still use your car till you get it figured out.

Just a word of caution for those using the Chinese knock-off lights. A guy on the UK FB group used these and one failed. The issue caused the BDCs circuit protection to kick in on the circuit for the failed lights, meaning that when he re-installed his original lights, the same lighting functions wouldn't work.

The BDC Module controls all lighting in the car, each individual light is called a slave. If the BDC detects an issue with an individual slave on a certain number of start-ups, it will permanently disable the circuit for that slave, until a reset procedure is carried out using an ISTA function or manual coding using other workshop level tools. I had this issue with a failed headrest light and it took 4 trips to the dealer until they finally twigged that they needed to reset the lighting slave on the BCM before the replacement component would work.

If a another threshold is passed the BDC permanently locks out the circuit using a non-replaceable fuse on the BDC and the wire for that circuit has to be allocated and programmed to a spare pin on the board.

The OEM lights aren't that much more expensive than the knock-offs (in the UK anyway) and remote coding costs around £100. I can understand the appeal of the AliExpress versions but the complications around the BDC module if one malfunctions and the relative parity on cost make the OEM versions the better option IMHO.

Well now I have a question. I bought what I believe are BMW lights from Abdul for my 18 F90 and had Vic at Bimmercode program. Every so often (more times than I care to mention)the left and/or right outer tail lights stop working. Using my scan tool it tells me its detecting an intermittent or permanent short circuit and the BDC has to be reset by Vic. Very frustrating as I have to bother Vic for reprogramming each time. Doesn't happen right away and until it does the lights work fine.
Is it possible the lights are in fact knock-offs with bmw logo? The wiring has been verified correct to the inner lights and the rest are plug and play-as per the multiple instructions here and likeI stated they work for a while then all of a sudden poof. I have the NA spec LCI lights. Sorry if I missed a post where this was brought up.

Highly doubtful. More likely faulty genuine lights or you’ve got a wiring or coding issue that’s unrelated to the light clusters themselves. Only way to know for sure is to swap back and see if the same issue occurs.

If I were in your shoes I’d swap out the outers for the pre LCIs and see if the same thing happens.

probably faulty lights. Ask for a replacement. I had my driver side fail and was replaced under warranty and is a known issue on early sets. this is why i buy from bmw when ever able.

Thanks Moon and Mav. I have a suspicion the lights are the problem too and changing the outers back and trouble shooting makes sense.

Hello guys, i have USA spec M5 F90, 2019 preface.
I want to do the retrofit of the taillights from what i read the chinese ebay taillights are plug and play but have a lots of bugs.
So i will go with the OEM kit, my question is since i will drive my car in EU, should i buy the EU spec taillights or the USA spec i have great coder so coding will not be an issue.

You should buy the Euro tails no matter where you will be driving, including the US. They don't throw welcome light errors like the US lights and some would argue the amber strip blinkers are more appealing, myself included.

Hey guys! Looks like Abdul and Euro Parts Palace have another group buy running for the Genuine BMW F90 / G30 Euro Spec Tail Lights. I just snagged a pair and if anyone else is interested the link is below.

If you are not thrilled about tapping into your factory wires like me you can use an OEM connector, part # 61115A3C023.

It has male and female plugs and can be plugged in between the factory wire and plug on the outer light. There is some kind of resistor wired into the connector so you will need to remove the harness tape and cut that out. I used the cut wires to tap the wire that goes to the inner taillights but you have to first move that wire to pin 1.

I also made a plug and play adapter so I did not need to re-pin the inner taillight plug.

The male plug was not easy to find so I found some male plugs with wires on EBay from another BMW. You need part number 63216909052 and if you search on EBay you can find used plugs/harnesses.

The female plug is here: https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1703874-1.html.

Thanks to WayneM3 for letting me borrow the crimping tool to add the OEM pins for the connector!

Very creative solutions for the jump wire. I ran the extra wire from the BDC, so no splice or tapping. I also don't have an issue with the repinning, it's the way the pins are supposed to be and are on LCI's. Nice job on the adapters. I'm sure if you ever want to swap back in the old lights it will save you time.

Yes, the ease of swapping back was the main reason I did it. I actually have the fifth wire for rear fogs but once I saw how cramped the front part of the BDC was I gave up on switching pins there.

Plus, it's fun, for me anyway, creating electrical solutions!

Did you hook up the rear fob wire or leave it hanging? I hooked it up, bought a new switch with the button and coded it. I've never used the rear fogs! Had to do it though, something about having that wire and lights with the diode.

Yes, I hooked it up so if I elect to add that functionality in the future I can.

how are you guys crimping the mqs socket? I tried install today, and realized my socket were incorrect while re-pinning. Had to put everything back and now wait to get the new correct sockets.

Even with the wrong sockets, I knew I probably butchered it crimping the socket to wiring. Just wondering how are you guys crimping the socket to new wire?
